Camp Cheval is for those who love horses. This riding and learning experience is a chance for campers to immerse themselves in all things equine. They will acquire riding and horsemanship skills, make friends (both two-legged and four) and enjoy fun-filled days on our beautiful farm.
We've added some new programs for this summer: Eventide Camp (ride two evenings & a Saturday morning), Mini-Camp (lasts only one day), & Parent-Child Camp (open to any current riding student & a parent.)
Through a variety of activities, campers will experience physical, mental and spiritual growth through better understanding of horses, the out-of-doors, and how all things are connected.

We maintain an exceptionally low ratio of riders to instructors and counselors in order to ensure the greatest amount of education, fun and safety. Mounted lessons are taught by the Riding Instructors on staff at MacNair's Country Acres. Counselors (who are experienced equestrians) handle ground lessons. Register early to get the session you want!

Which session of Camp is for me?

Community Camp is for children ages 10 to 16. Pony Camp is for 6 to 9 year olds. Campers will be divided into groups according to age & experience in order to maximize challenges and minimize frustration. These campers will not only ride, but will handle horses every day and figure out what makes the equine species so unique. It just doesn't get better than this for those who love horses.

Junior Invitational is for more advanced riders and those in MacNair's 4-H Club. These campers must be highly motivated to take on the challenges of perfecting the art of showing hunters. Riders must qualify for this session of camp. If you are already a MacNair's student please check with the Office. If you want to attend but ride elsewhere please call the Office to schedule an evaluation ride. You are welcome to bring your own horse to camp! Eventide Camp, open to riders 6 to adult, is a three day session designed to accommodate a work schedule (or other daytime demands.) Riders should be comfortable at the walk & trot & almost ready to canter, or already have cantered. Why should the kids have all the fun? Mini-Camp is an opportunity to go beyond riding lessons. Even though it's just one day, riders will incorporate learning experiences, such as horse behavior, stable management & the movement of the horse. There will be special sections for those 6 to 9 years old. Riders 8 to 15 should have some riding experience. Get together with your friends & have fun horsing around. Parent-Child Camp is open to current Riding School students and their moms &/or dads. Older & younger campers will ride, as well as participate in unmounted activities. Parents will feel like kids again & kids will feel empowered. Everyone will gain understanding and a sense of connection by sharing a special day.

| We are located on MacNair's Country Acres, a scenic 280 acre working farm in southwest Raleigh that offers a wide range of activities. At Country Acres, we board, train and show. The Riding School teaches lessons year round and is home to a very active 4-H Club as well as Cloverbuds (for younger children) and Track-Out Camps. During the summer we operate Camp Cheval.

"Cheval" is the French word for "horse," while "camp", loosely translated, means "fun."
Camp Cheval combines the two. Confidence grows as campers learn to care for and handle these beautiful creatures. We also find time for other fun activities and enjoyment of the great outdoors.
Camp Cheval has been the premier Riding Day Camp in the Triangle Area for over 40 years. Please schedule a visit to see our beautiful farm and meet our ponies, horses and instructors.

We look forward to meeting your sons and daughters, teaching them to ride (or ride better), helping them discover what horses are all about and of course, having lots of fun. Sincerely, The Camp Cheval staff
