Cloverbud Club
Cloverbud Club is for currently enrolled Pony School riders 6 to 9 years old. A "pre - 4-H" program, Cloverbuds meets once a month for an un-mounted session with an emphasis on horse care, handling and theory. Each meeting is structured as a meeting/mini-clinic and gives students additional learning opportunities and hands-on experience with horses and related activities. Activity for January 22: Horse's Senses: Becoming the horse
When we look at a horse, we can easily see its beauty and grace. It's when we start to interact with the horse that we get confused. That's because we tend to think of horses in human terms and give them human emotions.
Understanding how horses think and how they process the information they get from their senses will give us insight into what makes a horse act like a horse.
Vision: Do horses have blind spots?
Hearing: Did you know a horses' ears can turn 180º?
Smell and taste: Can a horse taste with its tongue?
Touch: Do horses have sensitive areas on their bodies?
Reflexes: Why is it SO HARD for a horse to lift its feet?
