Cumann na mBunscoil 2010
The 2010 Cumann na mBunscoil National Handball day will take place this year as part of a new rotation system around the provinces. This season will see the event staged in Connacht on Saturday 24th April in Castlebar Mitchell's GAA Club where they have 2 40x20 courts for hosting both the Boys and Girls events on the one day. The action will get underway at 11.00am with the 11 & Under sections, will break for lunch and follow afterwards with the 13 & Under grades.

 Roscommon's Marianna Rushe will contest the Ladies Senior Doubles final on Saturday 10th April in Kingscourt and is one of 4 ladies provincial senior champions still in the race for the 2010 Ladies Senior Singles crown, won on 2009 by Fiona Shannon. Antrim's Aisling Reilly, Kildare's Anna Spence and Kerry's Maria Daly and the remaining trio who will contest the semi-finals of that event on Saturday 17th April 2010.
 Reigning All Ireland senior doubles champions, Mayo (Dessie Keegan & Joe McCann) will continue the defence of their crown when they take on Limerick (Seamus O'Carroll & CJ Fitzpatrick) on Saturday 17th April in Moycullen. Cavan (Paul Brady & Michael Finnegan) will face either Meath or Armagh in the second semi-final in Abbeylara. The Senior Doubles decider is scheduled for St. Coman's, Roscommon, on Saturday 24th April at 4pm with the Minor Doubles and Ladies Senior Singles finals.

Welcome to the second edition of the GAA
Handball Newsletter.
March 2010 has been an
extremely busy month in the national handball scene and the month of
April will see a host of major events and games take place.
Annual
Congress took place in Thurles on 28th March and saw Meath's Walter
O'Connor win the vote as President-elect and the former world handball
champion will take up his presidency at GAA Handball Congress in March
2011.
This week will see the build-up to the eagerly awaited All
Ireland Senior 40x20 singles final as Cavan's Paul Brady will bid for a
record-equalling 6th successive triumph. The Ladies Senior doubles and
boys minor singles honours will also be decided at Kingscourt on
Saturday 10th April as part of an exciting programme, commencing at 4pm.
All
Ireland Juvenile Championship finals are also scheduled for Saturday
10th & Sunday 11th April while every weekend in April will see 40x20
national championship titles decided around the country.
Meanwhile,
the month will conclude with the GAA Handball 40x20 Irish Nationals
taking place at Ulster venues from Friday 30th April - Sunday 2nd May
2010.
In addition to other key events around Ireland, there will
be further progress made in relation to the new-look Strategic Plan for
handball, entitled 'GAA Handball's Strategic Vision, 2010-2012', the
roll-out of the national development plan and the issue and distribution
of promotional literature, publications, coaching pack and 'Top Ace'
magazine.
The official website will see further progress in 2010
and will become a more interactive and visually exciting platform for
all GAA Handball news from club, county, province, nationally and
internationally.

Senior decider in Kingscourt
All Ulster affair - Cavan v Armagh
 Cavan's Paul Brady is just one win away from a record-equalling sixth successive All Ireland Senior singles title win and will face final debutante, Armagh's Charly Shanks, in his bid to complete the feat. The duo will cross swords for the second time in 2010, following their Ulster final showdown at the beginning of March, when they meet at Kingscourt on Saturday 10th April as part of an absorbing championship programme. Dublin's Eoin Kennedy, following his All Ireland senior semi-final defeat to Cavan's Paul Brady, made it to the final of the WPH Ektelon Handball Fireball Classic in Tucson, Arizona, over the weekend.
