Yoni Brande,
10th grade
Yoni BrandeYoni, age 15, attends 10th grade at the Alabama School of Fine Arts, in Birmingham Alabama, with a specialty in Math and Science. His favorite subjects are Biology and Biblical battles. In his free time, he loves to play ball, draw wiggly cartoons, and prepare to read the Torah and Haftorah at his synagogue in Birmingham. Yoni is famous for coining the title 'TaNaCh TV' for Mrs. Goldstein's video conferencing classes at the N.E.Miles Jewish Day School, where he attended elementary and middle school. Yoni says about JconnecT, "I love having the chance to have Judaic involvement and learning when I won't have that regularly now that I go to a secular school."

Mack KrellMack Krell,
9th grade
 
Born and bred in Birmingham, AL, Mack attended the N. E. Miles Jewish Day School from grades 1-8. He is the youngest of three brothers and will be attending the Indian Springs High School in the fall. Mack has attended Ramah Darom in Georgia for six years, and loves  to play sports. He'll even watch sports he doesn't play!  Mack looks forward to debating Contemporary Jewish Issues with his friend Yoni Brande, featured on the left.
 
 

What is JconnecT? 

JconnecT is an online Jewish Studies program which offers two dynamic, live, weekly study sessions with an experienced teacher in Jerusalem for students in grades 5-7 and 8-10, 10-12 CST.
  
hands around globeSession I: Jewish Identity as related to holidays and the weekly Torah portion (parshat hashavua).
 
Session II: Contemporary Jewish Issues as connected through current events that surround Jewish life in the US and Israel which includes Hebrew language, Israeli culture, and Jewish history.

These sessions, as well as an optional online guided supplemental study and three annual in-person events to be held in centrally located Memphis, TN, will create a vibrant social, educational community of Jewish learning.
