Laws of Reading the Megillah
Women are obligated to hear the Megillah. The mitzvahs of Purim are positive mitzvahs which are bound by a time limit. Nevertheless, women must observe these mitzvahs since the women were also included in the decree of annihilation, and in the miraculous salvation.
One must hear every word when the Megillah is read. If one did not hear a few words, he should immediately read them from the text in front of him. In this case, one must recite the Megillah until he reaches the word the reader is reciting. This is because one must read every word of the Megillah in the correct order. One must not talk when the Megillah is being read.
