2 Daily Halachas
from

Our Rabbis tell us - one who studies [at least two] Halachos daily is assured a portion in Olam Haba -  the world to come (Gemorah Megilla 28)

The Vilna Gaon also said that for every word of Torah one learns one gets 613 Mitzvahs.

Therefore, we are going to learn two daily Halachas every day from Sefer Kitzur Shulchan Aruch and other sources.

Laws of Loshon Hora

The Chofetz Chaim enumerated 31 Torah Commandments which may be violated when a person speaks or listens to loshon hora.  There are 17 prohibitions and 14 positive Commandments - a total of 31 Commandments.

Positive Commandment number 10:  The posuk in Shemos 20:12 says:

"Honor your father and mother"

The Torah obligates us to honor our parents.  If you speak loshon hora about your father or mother, you violate this commandment.  This posuk also includes an elder sibling (Kesubos 103a).

Positive Commandment number 11:  The posuk in Devorim 10:20 says:

"The Lord your G-d shall you fear"

We are obligated to realize that HaShem is aware of every move that we make, and that there is a retribution for every wrongdoing.  Someone who is careless with his speech violates this commandment.

"A sour face is comparable to an open pit in a public domain.  One's negative demeanor can be contagious, calling others to be infected with his germ of depression.".
