2 Daily Halachas
from

Our Rabbis tell us - one who studies [at least two] Halachos daily is assured a portion in Olam Haba -  the world to come (Gemorah Megilla 28)

The Vilna Gaon also said that for every word of Torah one learns one gets 613 Mitzvahs.

Therefore, we are going to learn two daily Halachas every day from Sefer Kitzur Shulchan Aruch and other sources.

Laws of Chanukah

1.  Even though everybody lights at home, the menorah is also kindled in the schule between Mincha and Maariv publicizing the miracle.  However, in the schule the menorah is always lit on the southern wall.

2.  Even though the menorah lights in the schule are lit with a brocho, a person does not fulfill his obligation with this lighting, but must light again at home.  When the first night of Chanukah falls on a Friday, and everyone present in the schule has already lit at home prior to coming to schule, the brocho of the sheychianu must be omitted since everyone has already said it at home.

A Torah Thought for Today

The Gemorah Arachin 10b asks, why do we say the complete Hallel on Chanukah - a Yom Tov on which we are permitted to work?  The Gemorah answers that it is because of the miracle that happened on each day of Chanukah.  The Bais Yosef explains that the miracle occurred every day, as the jar miraculously was filled with oil each day.

We wish our 850 daily readers and their families a Happy Chanukah!!
