Staff applauded for service and dedication 
Inez Bailey, Amanda Carlton and Francisca Caz�res Three teams and 25 individuals are the winners of the 2010 Chancellor's Outstanding Staff Awards.
In congratulating the COSA recipients at a recent ceremony at International House, Chancellor Robert Birgeneau thanked them for "stepping up in this difficult time." Awardees were cited for service, efficiency, mentorship, and other outstanding qualities.

Judith Warren Little named dean of the Graduate School of Education 
Judith Warren Little Judith Warren Little, the Carol Liu Chair in Educational Policy at Berkeley's Graduate School of Education, has been appointed the school's dean, effective July 1. She will become the seventh woman currently serving as a Berkeley dean and the first woman to hold the education school's deanship on a permanent basis.

Leora Lawton Leora Lawton - sociologist, Deadhead, baseball fan - resurrected Harry Edwards' course in "Sport as a Social Institution" to introduce students to "the sociology of race, and ethnicity, and sex, and age, and class, and business, and politics," among other things.
