COVE Alliance's waiting list of children needing to be sponsored continues to grow. The children in Uganda see COVE as the vehicle to help them reach their dreams.
Children in Kapeeka live in extraordinarily poor conditions. Sponsored children are taught the life skills that will allow them to become self-sustaining in the future. By joining with COVE Alliance, you can improve their lives and create a real possibility of constructive change in their futures.
By choosing to sponsor a child through COVE Alliance, you assume an important and significant responsibility in the life of that child. Your continued annual sponsorship will allow the child to have access to education, clothing, healthcare and nutrition. Your child will further their studies in high school, college or vocational school which will enable the child to become self-sustaining in the future.
If you ask any of the 170 COVE sponsors they will tell you that being a COVE sponsor is a very rewarding experience. All of us look forward to receiving letters and updated photos of our sponsored children. Often the children will write about the necessities that they have received because of your support. It is comforting to know that we are making a difference in their world by infusing a spirit of hope and dignity into their future.
Please consider becoming a COVE Sponsor - one of these children is waiting for you to say YES! |
Sponsor Takes Role as Father for Child in Need
Over the years, COVE has seen many blessings develop from the relationships between sponsored children and their sponsors. Sponsors often take on the role of friends, mentors, and caregivers. In this month's newsletter, we would like to share letters between Andy Mosko and his sponsored child, in which a particularly special relationship has formed:

Patrick Mwanira |
Dear Lovely Sponsor,
I greet you in the name of Jesus Christ. How are you these days with your family? I think you are OK. On my side, I am OK and have come back from school for the holidays. I lost my grandfather. Now I am starting a new life because I am alone in this world. But I am still calling you my father and your wife my mother even your children my brothers and sisters.
The main point why I have written is to thank you about my gifts that you send home every time. I can receive them. I like them so much. So, my sponsor, thank you for that. With God's help and power I will do well in my exams. Let the God Lord bless you.
From Your lovely son, Mwanira Patrick
The following is a September response to Patrick, from his sponsor Andy Mosko:
Dear Patrick, Thank you for your recent letter. It is always good to hear from you and learn how you are doing. I am sure these past few months have been very sad and difficult for you since the death of your grandfather. From all I have heard about your grandfather from the Cove volunteers, your grandfather was a very special man. His loss is a painful experience to go through by yourself. Thank you for sharing your feeling with me. I too know what it means to lose a loved one. My father died suddenly 20 years ago this month. Since that time, there is not a day that goes by that I do not think of him or remember something he taught me when I was a boy. My faith in Jesus Christ, Our King and Savior, has helped me over the years to celebrate my father's life and not to grieve his loss. As it is with your grandfather and my father too, their souls are now living in the light of Christ in heaven. They are our own personal saints that we can pray to when asking for God's help. For me it is comforting to have these daily prayer conversations with my father. I hope you can find a similar comfort in a prayer conversation with your grandfather. .....Do not feel that you are ever alone. Your opening sentence was a greeting to me in the Name of Jesus Christ. With Jesus we are never alone; He always stands by our sides even in the most difficult times. We may not always remember or recognize that Christ is present and surrounds us in His loving embrace but He is. This we must never forget. We are his people, His family, and he will not forsake us because He loves each and every one of us. As we are all members of Christ's family, so you are a member of my family. I will never be able to replace your father or your grandfather, but I will be your father and Sally my wife, will be your mother. Our children, Kristin and Benjamin, are your brother and sister. You are not alone in this world, you have a family that loves and cares about you. We only want the best for you. Your Loving Father Andy Mosko For the full letter from Andy, please click here. |
From COVE Delegates Currently in Uganda
Nina and I arrived in Entebbe, traveled to Kapeeka and were welcomed by singing children with smiling faces. We managed to visit four schools that have received the books that were shipped to Uganda this August (with the help of Bookfriends). They were very excited about the books. We have begun the painting project in the boys' dorm. We have visited families and each has requested that we tell all of you how much they appreciate the support that you give to their children.
This Sunday we will go to mass at the home of Oliver's family. She is the little girl who died earlier this summer.
Our children are happy; they are learning and are good students. They accept the ups and downs of their environment. They are not just surviving they are living a new life. This new life is filled with possibilities through the gift of education, which you have provided for them through sponsorship.
Once again we thank you for your generosity and interest in COVE Alliance.
Peace,
Darlene

Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach
Currently, COVE Uganda has a full set of African drums and a cabasa. If possible, we would like to add more instruments to their collection. So dust off your discarded trumpet, flute, or other small instrument and we can find a place for them to sing their notes!
If you would like to consider donating an instrument, please contact Carol Armstrong. |
We are always looking for volunteers. Many hands and talents are needed. Special skills are not required - just a willingness to help the children of Uganda!
