Father Hilary Visits the USA
| | |
|
Fr. Hilary arrived on June 18th and was immediately immersed in the Fundraiser festivities, spoke at the fundraiser on June 22, 2012, enjoyed breaking bread with many of his COVE Alliance friends, and left the next day to visit his friend, Fr. Tom, in Indiana. After reconnecting with friends and the COVE USA board he returned to Uganda on June 28th. It is always sad to see him go back but he left us with many memories of his mission and heartfelt desire to provide the orphaned and vulnerable children the hope of education, which will provide a sustainable future for these children. His desire continues to inspire us and we enjoyed hearing Fr. Hilary talk about how the children are very happy to be together, and that this was not always how things were for the children of Uganda.
Excerpts from the speech given on June 22, 2012:
It is again another year of success and we can say God has continued to bless us. With great joy, as we mark seven years of successful existence, I take this opportunity to congratulate and thank each and everyone who has worked tirelessly to contribute to the success of COVE Alliance's mission.
As we complete the year 2011/2012 we leap into the year 2012/2013 with enthusiasm. We expect an increase in the number of children in the sponsorship program to go up to 200 sponsored children. St. Jerome COVE Primary school will be offering quality education to over 175 pupils, most of which will be in the boarding section. And with the improved medical services, there will be an increase the number of people who use the health center from 2,922 patients to 3,500 patients.
I would like to conclude by re-echoing my gratitude to all of you for all of the support each of you provide to COVE Alliance in her mission of supporting children so that they are able to break the cycle of poverty and are able to sustainably support themselves and heir children in the future,
May God bless you all, abundantly,
Rev. Fr. Hilary Muheezangango |

The 'Seeds of Hope' fundraiser was a wonderful evening of reconnecting with Friends of COVE and new friends that have become acquainted with one man's dream to reach out to the children in Kapeeka, Uganda. Fr. Hilary inspired us with a successful message from Uganda. The primary children have continued to develop a reputation as accomplished students.
The Medical Dispensary is now registered with the Ugandan government, which has improved their medical services and they have become an even greater asset to the community.

It was an evening of enlightening news, interactive dancing -including the traditional Ugandan dance, and shopping for beautiful items at the silent auction. Guests visited the African Store and made their selections at the Pick-A-Prize tables. Congratulation goes to Mrs. Susan Wynn, who was the winner of the new iPad.
Kate Lee (a delegate to Uganda in the summer of 2011) and Laura King sang 'I Believe', while Kate's
video of the children was being viewed by the audience. It was very inspiring and one of the highlights of the evening.
Thanks to the guests, donors, and volunteers, the fundraiser was very successful. Many
wonderful children were sponsored and a matching donation of $3,000 was
provided by a very generous donor. All of the funds received will benefit the COVE Alliance's education and healthcare projects in Kapeeka, Uganda.
Thank you to anyone who participated in any way!

COVE Delegates Visit Uganda | | |
This summer on 5/16/2012, St. Jerome COVE Center Kapeeka welcomed a group of eleven delegates from the USA led by Carol Armstrong and Steven Sprieser. The group included students from the University of Illinois under the SIFE program. The staff and children warmly welcomed the visitors with joy. Smiles filled them up with love and happiness. The children were standing alongside the entrance singing their common hymn "Happy Welcome."
The children had a lot of expectations from this visit - some expected their sponsors to be among this group, others expected visitors to share stories and gifts with them, teach them, visit their families, and play different games with them, such as basketball, volleyball, and football among others. Similarly, the staff had their expectations like interact with the visitors; work together on different programs such as visiting sponsored children's families, schools, health centers and drug stores in Kapeeka Trading Center; participate in clinic outreach program in some of the selected villages; and training farmers and entrepreneurs in Kapeeka and the surrounding areas.
Once again the delegates presented toothbrushes, toothpaste, shoes, clothes and school supplies to 140 children currently at St. Jerome COVE Primary School. The medical team also presented medical supplies to the medical staff of St. Jerome COVE Health Center.
It was a joyful moment at the St. Jerome COVE Center. They always look forward to welcoming more visitors. Thank you for loving the people of Uganda and, in particular, the children of Kapeeka. |
