Richard Mugisha Visits COVE USA

Richard Mugisha, the Administrative Assistant of COVE Uganda, visited the USA in May. Since it was his first time flying it became an adventure.  He was met with joy and a schedule that took him in many directions. This visit was designed to promote the spirit of unity between COVE Alliance USA and Uganda, which will ensure the future growth and development of the Alliance.

Meetings and activities were scheduled with various committees for his training in the planning, budgeting and fundraising aspects of COVE USA.

He also had the opportunity to meet with schools that have been key in the fundraising efforts for COVE Uganda. Reconnecting with the sponsors and friends gave him a first hand knowledge of the importance of his role with the disadvantaged children that he guides, with joy, in Uganda.

He also had the opportunity to reconnect with his Ugandan colleagues that were studying in the USA. He toured the Northwestern University campus and the city of Chicago.

He was amazed by the infrastructure and the relative ease of travel. He went home a changed person, filled with joy and anticipation.

2012 Delegates Begin Their Journey

On May 14, 2012 seven University of Illinois students with a professor, two nurse practitioners and a library professional began their journey to Uganda. Richard was returning to his beloved St Jerome COVE campus. Most had never been there before but were eagerly anticipating an opportunity to engage with the children, staff and community members of Kapeeka Uganda.

Delegates depart from US.

Delegates arrive in Uganda.

They were welcomed with enthusiasm by everyone. Be sure to read more about this trip in the upcoming July Newsletter.

Nominating News

Have you ever considered serving on the COVE US Board of Directors? Well, maybe now is the time! We are beginning the process to seek nominations for new board members.

Sometime in June, those who are on COVE's email list will receive a request to consider nominating yourself or someone you know for the US board. In August, the nominating committee will present a slate of nominees to the current board for approval. Then, an open election for board members to fill several positions for the 2012-2014 term will take place at the annual Fall meeting in September.

We appreciate your help your help and support!
