Piggery Project at Highland Middle School

Recently Highland Middle School students, teachers and parents took on a project to support a piggery at the COVE campus. Meat is a luxury in Uganda, usually provided only once a year, at Christmas. This project will allow more protein in our children's diet.

The teachers developed creative teaching opportunities to broaden the student's knowledge about Uganda, Africa, what poverty is like, and the difference between a student in the USA and Uganda. After one of the presentations that was given by two COVE members, one student came up and gave a donation of $20. The teachers have made a difference through their education.

All proceeds from the Staff Talent Show and Student talent show are the beginning of raising $10,000 to build, supply and support the piggery at the St Jerome COVE campus.  Please check the Highland Middle school calendar for future fundraisers that will support this effort.

Please support Highland Middle School in this venture.

Pauline and Her Tooth Extraction

This last summer, our Primary 1 teacher, Angela, noted that Pauline's front tooth was causing her pain. Angela and two of the delegates went with Pauline to Semito, a town about 15 miles from COVE, to see the dentist. She was frightened because she had never seen a dentist, and did not know what to expect.

While the delegates held her hands the dentist tried to explain the procedure. Pauline would not respond. However, after the tooth was pulled Pauline immediately Yelled, "I am going to tell my daddy on you".  They wanted to laugh but they did not.

As the days went on they attempted to get Pauline to smile but she would not. Does that sound familiar?  In the USA, we at least have the tooth fairy to help soothe that road between the loss of a tooth and the reappearance of the new permanent tooth.

This picture is the best available smile after the tooth extraction.  We will be looking forward to the budding of the new tooth.

2012 Seeds of Hope Fundraiser

Save the Date 2012

Silent Auction Items Needed
silent auction
Exciting Silent Auction items will be one of the highlights of the COVE Alliance 7th Annual Fundraiser on Friday, June 22, 2012 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Mundelein, Illinois.  As a friend of COVE, we hope that you will consider donating to this worthy event.  Your donation would be greatly appreciated!

You can donate gift certificates to your favorite restaurant or store, as well as tickets to a sporting event or a performance.  If you feel creative, you can put together a fun theme basket.  Any item you think people would like to take home with them can spark an enthusiastic "bidding war" and go a long way to raising much needed funds.

Your contribution will be acknowledged in our program book as well as on our website.  More importantly, your donation will directly impact the orphaned and vulnerable children served by COVE Alliance. Proceeds from the auction will support the education and healthcare programs at the COVE Center in rural Uganda, Africa. COVE Uganda's school, dormitory, health clinic and sponsorship programs are made possible through generous donors like you.

If you can donate an item for the auction, please click here to obtain our Auction Donation Form, which helps us keep track of your donation.

We thank you so much for considering our request, and hope you
can join us on June 22nd.

Sincerely,

The COVE Alliance Fund-raising Team

A Call For Prayer

Richard Mugisha, the assistant Director of COVE Uganda, will be meeting with the Consular at the Uganda Embassy on March 29, 2012 at 10 am.

Senator Kirk and COVE Alliance will be sending a letter of request to the Embassy. As  you know getting a VIsa to the USA can be very difficult.  Please pray that his Visa will be granted.

He is planning an April arrival in the USA, if his Visa is granted.
