To Uganda: We thank you for all that you have done. Fr. Hilary, we thank you for your "spirit-led" vision and planning; Richard, for your tireless coordination; and COVE staff, for your caring and the building of the COVE Alliance family in Uganda. These efforts have provided a beautiful campus, healthy children and outreach services to the neighboring community. It is clearly thoughtful, "spirit-led" and directed to giving our children the opportunity to build a better future through education, healthcare and nourishment. The nourishment of their body, mind and spirit will continue to inspire then to view you as an example of where they want to be in the future.
To the Board of Directors/volunteers: Thank you for the endless hours of thoughtful discussion on how COVE Alliance can continue to accomplish the goal of education, healthcare and nourishment. By developing spirited fundraising efforts during our difficult economic times, you have shown that the passion in your hearts for these children is unbeatable. Many of you have full time jobs as well as taking on this inspiring endeavor. You show substance of character, fortitude and strength of spirit.
To the Sponsors: Your dedication to your child is well received by the children. Your comments and letters show that your hearts are filled with generosity and love. They know that this is honest and humble. Many have told us that YOU are the reason that they can be educated. They are hungry for knowledge and enjoy the opportunity to have teachers who mentor them.
To the Corporations: You have embraced our mission and provided us with the opportunity to spread the word that our mission is genuine, fruitful and inspiring. You have been very generous to us. We appreciate your efforts.
The children of COVE Alliance have been blessed in many ways and you all have participated in that effort. Words cannot express how happy they are in their environment; but the following letter from the children, given to COVE delegates before they departed, may help to show their joy. Thank you.

'Then and Now' of Sponsored Children | | |
A Word from Sponsor Tamara Haegerich
 | | Josephine in 2007. |
It has been such a pleasure to sponsor Josephine Nansereko through COVE Alliance. I began sponsoring Josephine in 2007 when she was just 9 years old. My sponsorship has assisted in supporting boarding school fees, school supplies, a mattress, medical care, a uniform, and casual clothing. I have watched her grow from afar through letters, annual progress reports, photographs, and artwork, and I couldn't be more proud! It is amazing to see a young child thrive and grow into a young woman because of her strong sense of self, drive, and determination - characteristics that have undoubtedly been enhanced through COVE Alliance sponsorship and support.
With assistance, Josephine wrote the following letter to Tamara back in 2007:
Dear Tamara Haegerich,,
My name is Nansereko Josephine. I am 10 years. I live at Kapeeka village with my mother. She is Julinawe Jackline and my sister Nalule Christine who is 15 years. My father died of accident and left me in the womb when I was 6 month. Thank you so much for accepting to be my sponsor. I was so happy when COVE staff informed me that you had chosen me among others to sponsor me. I study at Kapeeka primary school in grade 6 (six). In school I study English, Match, Science, and Social Studies. At home I help my mother to clean dishes, collect firewood, and dig in the garden. My mother and sister have send greetings to you.
With love from,
Nansereko Josephine
Through her many letters, I have learned a lot about Josephine's studies at school. Because of her dedication to school and interest in furthering her education she was one of the few children selected to recieve a scholarship and attend boarding school. Her progress reports indicate that she has achieved a "very good" in all subjects including English, Math, Social Studies, Science, Reading, Writing, Religious Education, and Physical Education. Her success was noted on the COVE Alliance news in 2009, reporting that she is always among the five best students in her class. Josephine's commitment to school is clearly evident from her letters. Much of her time is devoted to reading and developing her English speaking and writing skills. Her favorite subjects are Math, Reading, and Science. Currently she wishes to become an architect or engineer one day. If that is what she desires, I have no doubt she will succeed.
During her time off from school she spends time with her mother and sisters who miss her greatly. In her letters, Josephine is always thankful of the love and support of her family. She enjoys assisting her family in the shop (selling fried cassava, chapatis, and sugar).
Tamara received the following letter from Josephine earlier this year. She was unassisted in the letter.

Dear Tamara Haegerich PhD,
Here again I write to you after a long time. Thank you so much for the continuous help you give me through COVE Alliance, I have been away for studies in a boarding school where COVE Alliance put me after selections of children to be given scholarships. Boarding school life is different from what I used to go through. At school we speak English, do much concentration on reading. I have a new friend called Nakazibwe and we are in the same class.
As I write to you I have now returned home for one month break off. I was so happy to meet my mother and sisters, while still alive and they were happy too because they missed me for a while.
We always keep you in our prayers. When I am at school, I say stories about you to other children and they are interested about it.
May the lord bless you all.
Yours,
Nansereko Josephine
Josephine is very grateful for the support she has recieved through my sponsorship and COVE Alliance. She greatly enjoys the visits from the US delegates from COVE Alliance. In her letters, she never neglects to send her deepest thanks for my support, letters, and small tokens of reward. Josephine reports that she tells stories of her sponsorship at school, and that she always keeps me and my family in her prayers. Of course, I will always keep her in mine. Thank you, Josephine, for showing that with the appropriate support and encouragement you can make steady strides toward reaching you most ambitious dreams. May God bless you and your family.
Tamara Haegerich, PhD

Holiday Gift Cards Available
to Support COVE
Have you considered offering gift cards for friends and family this Christmas and holiday season? Would you consider using such gift cards for purchases you would make anyway, especially if it helped children in need?
If so, why buy a gift card directly from a store, when you can likely buy the identical store gift card from COVE, obtain the same face value you wish to gift, and know a small percentage will be "given back" to the COVE organization! Groceries, clothing, toys, restaurants, gifts, even gasoline are now gift cards available to be purchased.
Please review and download the Gift Card List for information on all retail store options. Then print the Gift Card Order Form and simply follow the ordering instructions to obtain your cards. For more information, please visit our website at www.covealliance.org.
For any further questions on this gift card program, please call Tom Jacobs at
