 Headline News
"Bookfriends International Holds Book Drive  for Kapeeka Uganda"

Steve and Paulie Kutschat founded Bookfriends International in 2006. During their trip to Tanzania in 2004 they noticed that there was a severe shortage of books.  As they explained: "An afternoon at a secondary school in Northern Tanzania changed our lives."  They promised the students books, and they delivered. Now they continue to deliver.  By passing on new and used books, they are promoting a global learning exchange and the reuse of much needed books.

BOOKFRIENDS

Steve and Paulie Kutschat with Fr. Hilary

Recently, Fr. Hilary and COVE members visited Bookfriends International 's warehouse, located in Wauconda, Illinois, to help pack books earmarked for Kapeeka, Uganda. They will be delivered to the schools in Kapeeka where many of our sponsored children attend. COVE will be collecting books at St. Mary of Vernon Parish after all the masses on June 4th, 5th,11th and 12th.

The three most effective ways that you can help them to continue their mission are:

Donate new and used books

Donate money

Volunteer your time

A Word from Sponsor Sue Brosmith

Stanley in 2008.

My sister, Kathy Brosmith, has been the sponsor of a young lady in Uganda through COVE Alliance for many years. She was enjoying the experience so much that she encouraged me to also sponsor a child as well.  I was blessed by receiving Stanley Kiribaka as my sponsored child in
January 2008. Stanley was 10 years old at the time.
The first time I saw his picture, I adored him! Some COVE volunteers that have visited Uganda have relayed that Stanley is very "spirited"!  Being a school principal, I knew we were made for each other!

With assistance, Stanley wrote the following letter to Sue back in 2008:

Dear Sue,

Thank you so much for accepting to be my sponsor.  My name is Stanley Kiribaka.  I have recieved the gifts that you sent to me in the mail.  I have been at home for the holidays but now I am back at school for term two session.  Every day I walk to and from school Monday-Friday.  My home is about 5 kilometers from school.

Best wishes from,

Stanley Kiribaka

I so enjoy Stanley's letters and his drawings!  His correspondences brighten my days! I try to encourage him with his studies and send him care packages a few times each year. He responds with drawings and his appreciation for the sponsorship!

Sue recently recieved the following letter from Stanley.  He was unassisted in the letter.

Dear Sue,

Thank you so much for the care and love you show me through COVE Alliance.  I have recieved the mail from you this year.  I have not bought clothes because you have done it for me.

School life is so good.  I learn new ideas play with other children we are taught english language which is our second language.  These days I am studying for my exams that will end the year.

Best wishes from,

You too can have this wonderful experience of sponsoring a child, who is on the waiting list, through COVE. The reward will be the bond you two will develop on your mutual journey for a better world.  For details, please visit www.covealliance.org.

"Non-Profit of the Month"

BankFinancial Gratefully Supports COVE
A Note From COVE Supporter Ruth Quijada

COVE Alliance has been a valued customer of BankFinancial for the past five years.  During that time I've dealt personally with some of the board members, attended fundraising events and have been quite impressed with all of the accomplishments the
organization has made. The account started modestly with the vision of a few people wanting to make a difference in the lives of the children of Uganda and since then has grown tremendously over the past five years.

One of the ways that BankFinancial has partnered with COVE is by having it as our featured Business of the Month. This is a program designed to give our business customers an opportunity to spread the word about their particular business to our other customers. We also feature our Business of the Month on our website to give the business even more exposure via the web. I
have enjoyed working with C.O.V.E. Alliance over the years. Our partnership has not only been mutually beneficial for finance but as well as for philanthropy. Blessings and continued success to C.O.V.E and its sponsors as they continue on their journey to
positively impacting and enriching the lives of many in Uganda.

News From Uganda

COVE Uganda Eagerly Awaits U.S Delegates
A Note From COVE Uganda

COVE Alliance Uganda Board members, the entire staff of St. Jerome COVE Center Kapeeka, the students of St. Jerome COVE Primary School-Kapeeka, our sponsored children and the parents of the sponsored children are eagerly waiting for the US delegation that is coming to Uganda in July this year. What a pleasure to host you again!

At the center, we hope that a number of activities are to be carried out during this period and these include teaching at St. Jerome COVE Primary School , painting of the new classroom block, landscaping  (leveling of the compound), then garden work that involves the planting of fruit trees and vegetables.

During this year's visit, we hope that our delegates will be able to visit families and schools of the sponsored children. Some of the delegates will give assistance in the health center (treat patients) and then we will have time for the meetings to assess the progress of the program. There will also be time for the sports encounters with the neighboring schools.

All in all this is going to be a busy time of developing new friendships, enjoying our students/adults from the USA as they reach out to the less fortunate and fill their hearts with the love and joy that comes with unselfish service.

Sincerely,

COVE Uganda

 COVE Board Nominations

NOW Open

Have you ever considered serving on the COVE US Board of Directors?

Well, maybe now is the time!  We are beginning the process to seek nominations for new board members.  Sometime in June, those who are on COVE's email list will be receiving a request to consider nominating yourself or someone you know for the
USA board.

In August, the nominating committee will present a slate of nominees to the current board for approval.

Then, an open election for
board members to fill the secretary position and several other positions will take place at the annual fall meeting in September.

For more information, please contact Sue Binetti.
