Little Servants of Sacred Heart to Provide Service and Love for COVE Community

A Letter From Sister Liliana Borille

Dear friends,

Let me take this opportunity to introduce ourselves to you now that we are a part of the COVE Community or as Richard commonly calls it "COVE FAMILY".

nus2

We are three (3) nuns belonging to an International Congregation called The Little Servants of the Sacred Heart who will be offering our services from Kapeeka. Sr. Damaris Ndwiga, a Kenyan and our superior will be offering her services at our Lady Consolata Parish Kapeeka till COVE introduces a Vocational Training Center.

Sr. Ann Mutisya also a Kenyan will be offering her services in the school. She is a trained teacher and will be teaching at St Jerome COVE Primary School; and myself Sr. Liliana Borille from Italy. I will be helping in the health unit. I am a medical nurse.

 Founder of the Religious Sisters

To assist his charitable works for orphans and casualties of the First World War, Bishop Charles Liviero founded in 1915 a Congregation of Sisters, the Little Servants of the Sacred Heart. The order's charism, which focused on charitable works toward the "little ones" and the poor, was approved in 1916. "Our charism is to live and manifest the compassionate and merciful love of the heart of Jesus to people where we are sent..."

Sr. Liliana says.

nunswithchildren

Our dream was to come and establish our presence in Uganda in 1972 but due to the political instability, we opted to go to Kenya in 1980.

Now we have reached Uganda, learning the language (Luganda language) and still waiting for the completion of our house, we are just counting the days to establish ourselves in Kapeeka. Our charism is calling us to be available for all the deeds of charity

present and necessary where we are sent.

We are grateful to the parish of Kapeeka, the Consolata Missionaries and COVE Alliance for welcoming us to Uganda.

Our expectations, dreams, and our desires are to work and stay with the people of Kapeeka; to work with them and to express our Charism with all our hearts, gifts,

talents... for the good of people and the Glory of God.

St. Mary of Annunciation to Add COVE as Charity Beginning 2011

In 2010, Fr. Hilary and COVE members spoke with a group of children at St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish School in Mundelein, Il. In March of 2011 the school again requested Fr. Hilary's presence , but this time it was to award COVE with a check for $885. Even at such a young age, the children are learning to extend themselves to children who have so much less. A heartfelt Thank You goes out to the children as well as their parents, teachers and staff who mentor them at Sr. Mary of the Annunciation.

'Then and Now' of Sponsored Children
Agnes Nakayaga
With a Letter from Agnes's Sponsors Bill and Carol Armstrong

Agnes was only 7 years old when we sponsored her and this month she will be 11 years old. She was born in one of the clinics of Kapeeka town called Munyoro. She and her parents live in the village of Naluvule. When I first met her in 2007 she was shy and reserved. In 2010 she appeared to have found her jest in life with her music. She is social and outgoing. From what I have seen she has been inspired by the family she lives with at the Cove Center. She is the head girl in her class. We are very proud of her.

In the beginning her letters were thankful and happy that through sponsorship her life was changing. She appreciates the littlest things - colored pencils, paper, and stickers. We were delighted when she commented on the family pictures that we had sent. We saw a bond developing.

She is a diligent student and has passed her testing to continue her education. She seems to be artistically talented with her music and her art. She always has drawings of objects in her environment on her letters to us. At the same time she is doing well in reading, writing and math.

In 2010, she sent the following letter to her sponsor:

Dear my Loving Sponsor

Thank you so much for the gifts you sent me.  I was so happy to see you when you visited our home. My family and I appreciate the love and care you show me. I still remember the day you hold me.

I've prepared myself for the exams and I know that I will pass.

On holiday I feed the pigs.

Best Wishes
Agnes Nakayaga

To see your sponsored child grow and blossom in a challenging environment, so far away is truly a blessing.

Coming Soon

Can You Host Fr. Hilary?

Fr H Auction Prep

Father Hilary, COVE's Executive Director, will visit the US this Spring. While here, he will be eager to connect with you and share news about COVE Uganda.

Consider hosting a coffee or tea during Fr. Hilary's visit so that your friends and neighbors can meet him, hear inspiring stories and be updated on COVE's accomplishments.

Appeal from Fr. Hilary:

"These children have nowhere to go for help of any kind: physical, psychological or spiritual.  In my ministry as a priest, I feel that caring for the orphaned children of Kasana-Luweero is an urgent mission that I have been called to do.  COVE Alliance is made up of people who are interested in merging efforts with me to carry on this moral task of saving the lives of the many children who are still surviving."
