February 2011

Greetings!

February is a time of reflection and the Board of COVE USA has shared some of their thoughts on how being an intimate/active part of COVE has impacted their lives, given them motivation, and provided them with joy every time they see a project completed and another hopeful face.  Here are their comments. "Extreme poverty is real and COVE has given us a first hand look at the reality of suffering and also how education, volunteerism, and donation can change children's tears to smiles of hope and pride in their accomplishments." "Volunteering for COVE has given me a sense of inspiration and truly moves me to know that within our COVE community in Uganda, they now have an opportunity to create a better life for themselves." For those who have traveled to Uganda there is a sense of peacefulness in the simplicity of life in Kapeeka that allows a first hand experience of how God works in so many ways. Join us in this endeavor to continue expansion through your participation and continued prayers.  Read On!

Dear Mrs. Juanita Puchalski,

This is good to write to you again.  Thank you so much for the gifts I received from you.  Visitors from the U.S came to our area and I was happy to know that they know about you.  I have started doing my mock examinations and I am ready to try hard so I get scored with better grades.  We receive rainfall this month and all the environment is green again.  My school uniform is green too!

Best Wishes,
Nasaazi Leocadia

Appreciation For USA Efforts

Fundraising by COVE USA is essential to supporting the efforts of the staff and children at COVE Uganda.  COVE Uganda is very appreciative for all that we do.

"The children are happy that they now have a mattress, blanket and mosquito net. One sponsored child told him that his grandmother is not able to provide these basic needs. He is so thankful to his sponsor," says Richard the Assistant Director.

"My heart hears the need to address their psychosocial and emotional needs. The guardians/parents are generous in welcoming me into their homes when I come to talk about the children," says Joseph the Assistant Sponsorship Program Coordinator.

"The needy children are now able to receive an education and break the cycle of poverty in their country. They are my family," says Joseph Lule the Head Teacher.

Steven Sprieser has taken the "Light a Candle Campaign" one step further to the University of Illinois and is networking, researching, and compiling plans with other college students and teachers to develop agricultural development/education, incorporation of environmentally sustainable infrastructure and fund raising.

If you have any fundraising ideas please let us know. If anyone in your community has come up with a unique idea to raise money let us know. If you know someone who has helped put on a fundraiser we would be interested in talking with them. Please help us in the preparation for our 6th annual fundraiser Seeds of Hope to be held on April 9th.  We also ask for your support for the current fundraising projects and pray for the continued success of COVE Alliance.

Can You Host Fr. Hilary?

Fr H Auction Prep

Father Hilary, COVE's Executive Director, will visit the US this Spring. While here, he will be eager to connect with you and share news about COVE Uganda.

Consider hosting a coffee or tea during Fr. Hilary's visit so that your friends and neighbors can meet him, hear inspiring stories and be updated on COVE's accomplishments.

Appeal from Fr. Hilary:

"These children have nowhere to go for help of any kind: physical, psychological or spiritual.  In my ministry as a priest, I feel that caring for the orphaned children of Kasana-Luweero is an urgent mission that I have been called to do.  COVE Alliance is made up of people who are interested in merging efforts with me to carry on this moral task of saving the lives of the many children who are still surviving."

For more information, contact Darlene Frantonius by email darf10@comcast.net or at 847-438-4780.
