The eScuttle- "Sea" What's Happening
Summer 2012 Week 2

recapWeek 2 Was a Blast at RRDC!

The first week of camp is over and we can surely say it was awesome! This week we celebrated our country as we dressed up in Red, White and Blue. Our Skippers and Mariners participated in many patriotic activities on campus. We can't forget that Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam paid a visit at Rolling River too! Our Navigators beat the heat this week to celebrate July 4th at Long Beach and Dorney Park/Wildwater Kingdom.

On Friday, we celebrated Decades Day where all of our staff and campers dressed up in clothing from their favorite decade. In order to truly celebrate each decade, we wanted our campers to feel as if they traveled through time. Squeaky Clean turned the hockey rink into a 50's Sock Hop, a DJ turned the Multi Porpoise room into a 70's disco and Hip Hop Handbook taught us how to 90's break dance with "Mighty Mouse" from "So You Think You Can Dance".  All campers also went home with a special gumball machine to represent the 50s.

It was definitely a blast from the past!

Next week get ready for Spirit Week! On Monday remember t wear your hair in a crazy hair-do because it is "Krazy" Hair Day. Tuesday is Concert Tee Shirt day, so remember to wear a rock star t-shirt for our special exclusive concert with Disney Star Trevor Jackson! Wednesday is Picture Day- wear a clean shirt with your brightest smile.  We will also be hosting the NY Islanders Ice Tour which will feature a meet and greet with Islanders star players including Matt Moulson! Thursday is Holiday Day, so dress up as your favorite holiday! As for Friday, I hope all of our campers have been practicing their Song and Plaque Day song because Friday afternoon will be the live performance.

"Sea" you next week!

The Skippers started their week on Monday with a special Water Safety Program where they met Sammy the Starfish, Timmy the Tadpole and Gilbert the Guppy!  On Tuesday, the Skippers proudly celebrated America's birthday with Red, White and Blue Day.  We had a special July 4th parade at morning lineup followed by many fun red, white and blue activities throughout the day.  On Friday we had a "rockin" time for Decades Day during the 50s Sock Hop featuring Squeaky Clean.  Everyone looked awesome in their costumes!  Looking forward to a GREAT spirit week next week!

Thanks for all the positive emails that we have received regarding your child's amazing experience during the first week of camp.  We had a terrific week in the Mariner Division!  It was highlighted by Red, White and Blue Day. All of the groups competed in several patriotic activities including a mummy wrap, wacky relays and a treasure hunt.  We also had a great time during Decades Day.  So many of our campers creatively dressed up to honor each decade.
