Three Foster Children with July Birthdays Need a Birthday Buddy
Charles, Tressa and Emily, three teens in foster care, are wishing that someone will be their Birthday Buddy.  A Birthday Buddy is matched with a foster child who has an upcoming birthday, and donates birthday gifts to the child.  If you are interested in sponsoring the birthdays of one of these youths, please contact Shelley Thomas-Benke at shelleythomasbenke@foster-adopt.org or (314) 367-8373.  Scout troops, school classrooms and church groups are wonderful Birthday Buddies as well.

Bedroom Dressers and Bunk Bed Needed
Our Coalition Recruiters have helped to reconnect two siblings in foster care (a boy and girl) with their aunt, with a plan for adoption!  Their closet is tiny and they need additional storage space for their clothes. We would love to find 2 dressers to give to them.

We’re also working towards moving a teenage girl in foster care into her cousin’s home.  Given the tight space restraints, a bunk bed would be ideal.

If you have a dresser or bunk bed that you could donate to these foster children, please contact Shelley Thomas-Benke at 314.367-8373 or shelleythomasbenke@foster-adopt.org.

Volunteer Opportunities

Help a Foster Child Settle into a New Home
The Coalition's Extreme Recruiters are hard at work helping to find permanent homes for youth in foster care.  Often, bedroom furniture needs to be moved into the pre-adoptive home before the foster child is able to move in.  We need big-hearted volunteers who can help transport and move furniture into these homes.  Generous individuals who own a truck or large vehicle, and are willing to donate 1 to 2 hours every few months, are very much needed!  If you can help, please contact Shelley Thomas-Benke at 314.367.8373 or shellythomasbenke@foster-adopt.org.

Visiting Resource Needed for 11-year-old boy
We are seeking a visiting resource for a loveable 11-year-old boy who loves dancing, playing games and eating mint-chocolate-chip ice cream.  He has been in care for quite some time and is without a visiting resource to call his own.  This vivacious, fun-hearted boy wants to have outings and one-on-one time to look forward to.  He craves the attention and commitment of an adult who wants to spend time with him "just because".  A visiting resource must have a background and child abuse/neglect screening completed.  The family support team is seeking a visiting resource who would commit to having a minimum of one visit a month for a long-term period of time; this visiting resource could be male or female.  This boy deserves to have a long-term relationship with someone who will support, encourage and care about him and be a role model.

Like most foster children who have been in and out of multiple foster homes, this boy has experienced trauma. Though certainly not required, it is always beneficial if the visiting resource has experience with children who have experienced trauma or have behavioral concerns.  For more information on this boy, or to learn how you can become a visiting resource for him or a child like him, please contact Dawn Milburn, at 314.367.8373 or dawnmilburn@foster-adopt.org.
