Welcome to our new Birthday Buddy co-Coordinators!
We wish to extend a warm welcome to our three new Birthday Buddy co-Coordinators, Karen Herrington, Cathy Brown, and Sandy Schrock.  These wonderful volunteers will be dedicating hours of their time to help ensure that as many foster children as possible receive gifts on their birthdays.
We bid a fond farewell to Debbie Schoemehl, the founder of the Birthday Buddy program.  Debbie recentlyresigned Birthday Buddy Coordinator because of a move out of the St. Louis area.  We will be forever grateful to Debbie!  Hundreds of foster children have received birthday gifts from the program, thanks to Debbie’s passion and commitment.

A New Way to Report Bullying
The Department of Social Services has announced a website where students, parents and others can file anonymous reports of school violence, such as fights, bullying and vandalism.  To report bullying or for more information, please visit http://schoolviolencehotline.com/index.htm.  Students with disabilities, both visible and non-visible, experienced bullying more than their non-disabled peers and boys are bullied more often than girls.

Leslie Lewis, Director of Educational Advocacy, has over 30-years experience, and can help you with IEPs, tutoring, and a variety of other educational concerns.  Requests can be e-mailed or discussed by calling 800.FOSTER.3 (314.367.8373) x37.

Foundation.  Breakfast and lunch will be served at over 90 sites throughout the City and county.  Any person age 18 years of age or younger and persons 19 or older who have been determined by a state or local educational agency to have a mental or physical disability, can eat free at any of the sites.  Locations will be posted on the City of St. Louis website at http://st.louis.missouri.org under “Featured Links” or call the Deptartment of Human Services - Youth Nutrition office at 314.657.1695.
