Volunteer Opportunities

Your Child Can Have a Great Birthday
& Ensure That a Foster Child Has One Too!
When 11-year-old Sophie was planning her birthday party, her mother talked to her about the Coalition’s Birthday Buddy program. Sophie wasn’t sure if she wanted to give her gifts away to a foster child.

“But as we talked it through, Sophie realized there weren’t many things that she really wanted or needed.” stated Sophie’s mom.  “So we agreed that she would request gift cards for her birthday and tell her friends that most of them would be donated to a teenager in foster care in the Birthday Buddy program.”

Sophie was thrilled to keep $40 in gift cards from her friends, and gladly gave away $150 in gift cards to sponsor the birthdays of two teenagers in foster care.  Thank you, Sophie!

If you or your child would like to sponsor a foster child's birthday, please contact our Birthday Buddy Coordinator, Debbie Schoemehl, at 314.223.5723 or Shelley Thomas-Benke at 800.FOSTER.3 (314.367.8373).
