Shop for a Cause Minimize
You can support the work of the Coalition just by shopping for groceries!  Please visit the Customer Service Desk of your Schnuck's store and ask for an eScrip Community Card.  After you receive your card, activate by calling 800.931.6258 or visit www.escrip.com. Our group ID # is 500004839.  Tell them you are supporting the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition. Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition Receives 4-Stars
Charity Navigator highlights the fine work of efficient charities, and provides donors with information needed to give them confidence in the charitable choices they make.  Charity Navigator recently announced that the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition earned their 4-star rating for its ability to efficiently manage and grow its finances.  Approximately a quarter of the charities they evaluate have received this highest rating, indicating that the Coalition executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way, and outperforms most other charities in America.  Thank you Charity Navigator!

Volunteer Opportunities

Tutors Needed In North County and University City Area
Reading tutors are needed for several youth in foster care in the north county or University City area.  In particular, two teens reading at an elementary school level could really benefit from a reading tutor with special education or prior tutoring experience.  Reading tutoring would be done at a public library of your choosing, twice a week for one hour each time. Training is provided. A nine month to one year minimum volunteer commitment is required.

Homework help tutors are also needed for youth in foster care during a structured study hall from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. in University City.  Volunteers should be able to help once a week for at least a couple of months, preferably for the entire spring semester.

A criminal background screening will be completed before volunteers can begin tutoring.  Please contact Shelley Thomas-Benke at 800.FOSTER.3 (314.367.8373) for more information about these and other volunteer opportunities.

Brighten a Teens Birthday
The Coalition has received many Birthday Buddy applications from teenagers in foster care who are hoping to receive something special on their birthday.  You can grant a foster youths birthday wish or donate a gift card to one of these teenagers by going to www.foster-adopt.org/birthdaybuddy, or contacting Debbie Schoemehl at 314.223.5723 or Shelley Thomas-Benke at 800.FOSTER.3 (314.367.8373) .

Do you believe there is free money?

There is, and it helps the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition. You shop, yes?  Well, you can shop smart and raise funds for the Coalition at the same time.  Heres how:

eScrip Just hand your eScrip card to the cashier every time you shop at Schnucks, and the Coalition will earn up to 3% of your total bill. There is no cost to you! You can also shop at Macys and other merchants to benefit the Coalition. To take advantage of the Online Mall, simply click the "At the Online Mall" link found at www.escrip.com.    From there you can begin your shopping by selecting home or all stores.   Need an eScrip card? Contact Debbie Genung at 800.FOSTER.3 (314.367.8373).  She can send you one or you can get one at the customer service desk at any Schnucks store.

GoodSearch & GoodShop Make GoodSearch.com your homepage and whenever you use the search engine, the Coalition earns a donation. When you start an online shopping expedition via GoodShop, we also earn a percentage of your purchases!

Matching Gifts You can often double your contribution through matching gifts another great way to support our important work. If you work for a company with a matching gift program, all you need to do is fill out a form. The company will contact us to verify your gift and then send us a check.

Another reason this free money is such a gift to the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition:  it takes virtually no staff time!
