Volunteer Opportunities

Do You Have Weekday Daytime Availability?
Please consider helping in our office as a Little Wishes “Elf”!   Each year, we receive thousands of holiday wish requests from foster and adoptive children.  In December, we need many volunteers to Internet shop and process the granted wishes.  If you can help brighten the holidays for our kids, please contact Shelley Thomas-Benke at 800.FOSTER.3 (314.367.8373) x29.

Reading Tutors Needed
Often, foster/adoptive children are academically below grade level, and many of them are struggling to become good readers.  You can be matched with one of these children and read with him/her twice a week at a public library of your choosing.  For more information, please contact Shelley Thomas-Benke at 800.FOSTER.3 (314.367.8373) x29.

Will You or Your Child Be Celebrating a Birthday This Winter?
Be a Birthday Buddy!  As a Birthday Buddy, you ask your birthday guests to bring a birthday gift for a foster child in lieu of a gift for you.  Or you can simply donate some of the birthday gifts you receive to the Birthday Buddy program.

Foster parents are only reimbursed for about half of what they need to raise a foster child, and a special birthday celebration for their foster children is sometimes financially out of reach.  Your donations to the Birthday Buddy program help ensure that foster kids have a happy birthday.  For more information, visit www.foster-adopt.org/birthdaybuddy or contact Debbie Schoemehl at 314.223.5723.

Join Foster Friends and Volunteer One-on-One with Foster Children
Our Foster Friends volunteers support several Coalition events each year, playing games and hosting fun activities for foster/adoptive children.  Foster Friends also receive exclusive opportunities to support foster children waiting to be adopted.  To find out more, visit www.foster-adopt.org/fosterfriends.
