Opening Day at the VFM was a huge success, starting  at 9AM with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by City Council members, Larry Smith, Jack Burkman and Bart Hansen.      
 
The weather was perfect, the vendors and customers  upbeat, along with many well behaved dogs of all sizes. The beautiful day brought a huge crowd of folks down to the Market.

EASTER EGG HUNT
 
The Market will be hosting an  Easter Egg Hunt  for children in Esther Short Park on Saturday, April 3, 10AM - Noon, with a special appearance by Mr. Peter Rabbit.
 
There  will be various "hunt" times scheduled  for different age groups and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
 
 
This  will be a great fun event for you and the children, so come on down to the park this Saturday and remember to bring your cameras!

Vancouver Farmers Market has a new DROP & SHOP program.  There will be a booth located on 6th & Esther where you can drop off your heavier loads of merchandise, pick up a claim check, continue shopping and then drive your vehicle around to pick up your items when you're done shopping.
 Sounds like a great idea!

The VFM will be featuring cooking and gardening demonstrations and raffles each month during the season.  
 
On Saturday, April 10 there will be a Garden Demonstration to be held by the large tent in the dining and entertainment area
 
We will have a raffle of VFM products on April 17.

WSU Master Gardeners will be at the Market the first and third Saturdays of each month to answer your gardening questions.
APRIL MARKET PRODUCTS
 
The Market will have a wide variety of nursery plants and starts for your home gardens.
 
For those celebrating the Easter Holiday, the VFM sells fresh lamb, eggs, artisan breads, dessert items, in season produce, and a dazzling selection of fresh spring flowers to decorate your homes.
 
Mushrooms, cheese, honey, jam, asparagus, root vegetables, sausage, seafood, are among some of the other food items vendors will be  selling this month.
 
You'll also want to check out the latest inspirations from our artisan vendors, and then relax with lunch or a snack and listen to live musical entertainment.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH
 
This month's recipe entitled Moroccan Lamb Kabobs  comes from VFM vendor and Board member,  Rachel Reister of Reister Farms.  
 
1 to 2 lbs of kabob meat 
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp paprika
1 medium white onion
3 TB cilantro
3 TB flat parsley
3 TB olive oil 
 
Mix all ingredients and marinate at least 30 minutes and up to 3 hours before grilling.
