We hear you: Survey results

Thank you to those who completed our recent customer satisfaction survey for either Body Shop facility, Group Fitness, or both! We value your feedback and use it to help guide our programming and operations. Below is a summary of your feedback and the actions we have taken thus far and plan to take. We do need your help though. First, please read and observe the suggestions below, in order to make the Body Shop a pleasant place for everyone. Second, please continue to provide feedback to help make Body Shop Fitness better.

Seaton Body Shop: Overall, you said the price is great; the staff is friendly; and you enjoy working out there. Thank you!

Suggestion: The locker rooms are dusty and contain surplus equipment.

Action: We removed the old equipment and cleaned up the area.

Suggestion: Space is tight in the free-weight area.

Action: We removed an adjustable bench and weight tree that were not needed, creating more space.

Suggestion: All participants need to wipe down machines after each use.

We need your help with this one! Please be gracious to your fellow gym members and clean up after yourself.

Suggestion: Body Shop needs new equipment.

Action: Together with KHP, we order new equipment toward the end of the fiscal year. We are currently at capacity, so new equipment can only be purchased to replace old equipment.

Suggestion: Several of you didn't like the radio selection.

We need your help with this one! Please feel free to ask the Body Shop staff to change the station or bring your own audio device.

Many of you said we need more hours! We totally agree with you. Unfortunately, we are limited by the number of students enrolled in KHP who utilize the Body Shop. KHP enrollment is increasing substantially, making it very difficult for us to have any more time in the Body Shop.

Alumni Body Shop: Overall, you said the price is great; the new locker rooms are fabulous; and the staff is helpful. Thank you!

Suggestion: The entry (back door) looks shabby and is often blocked by delivery trucks.

Action: While we cannot change the parking spots, we have asked custodial services to be aware of the back entry area and keep it clean. I have also added this area to the Body Shop staff daily facility checklist.

Suggestion: The equipment is low quality and we need more and updated equipment such as back machine/cardio.

Action: The Nautilus Nitro Strength line that is in the Body Shop was purchased brand new in 2006. Nautilus is a very well known, high quality brand of fitness equipment. While there are some older pieces, the majority of the strength equipment is new within 5 years. The cardio machines are slowly being replaced over time.

Suggestion: All participants need to wipe down machines after each use

Again, we need your help on this one! Please be gracious to your fellow gym members and wipe down equipment after each use.

Suggestion: The new locker rooms are great, but are they being cleaned?

Action: We have asked for additional staffing for the locker room area and a second shift to clean in-between shifts. We have gone to great lengths to ensure the proper people have keys and are clear on expectations. Please let us know if something needs attention.

Suggestion: Several of you suggested it is too hot inside the locker rooms and Body Shop.

Action: We have had two consultations and are strategizing ways to improve the temperature before hot weather returns.

Suggestion: The locker rooms need dividers between the door and shower areas.

Action: We put up curtains between the areas.

Suggestion: There is not enough hot water in the morning.

Action: We corrected the hot water problem.

Extended weekend hours begin this semester!

Many of you commented about the hours of operation. You suggested more weekend hours, 3 p.m. open, and all-day hours. While we cannot remain open all day due to the availability of our staff, we will be extending the weekend hours! We are allowing Campus Recreation to use the Body Shop at Alumni for student hours on Saturdays from 12 to 3 p.m. While our own Body Shop staff will still be there from 9 a.m. to 12p.m on Saturdays, Body Shop members can also come in during the Campus Rec hours of 12 to 3 p.m.! Thank you for your suggestion!

Alumni Gym Locker Rental coming soon!

You suggested renting out lockers for a fee, and this will be coming soon! You also suggested a towel service. While we would like to offer this benefit, we simply do not have space or funding for washing and sanitizing towels for members. Please remember to bring a towel with you. When locker rentals begin, you can keep a towel in your locker, eliminating the need for a service!

While we can't accommodate every suggestion, we do our best to make your suggestions a reality. Please continue to give us your feedback and improve Body Shop Fitness!
