Winter doesn't officially begin until December 21, but you wouldn't know it by looking out at our snow-covered campus. With the weather (and UK's opening delay on Dec. 13) in mind, we recently updated HR's "Plan B" delay/closure web site (see the FAQ page for recent updates) to address some frequently asked questions.

Update on Extended Special Holidays

Dependent Verification Process Results
Thank you to the faculty and staff who participated in the UK's recent dependent benefits eligibility verification process. As a result of this program, we expect UK could save as much as $1.2 million annually. Click here for more information.

Do something good for yourself this year: Get started with UK Healthtrac Rewards. You have from Jan. 6 until March 31 to take your Health Assessment and earn $25. And you could earn more - up to $180 per fiscal year.
What is UK Healthtrac Rewards?
Healthtrac is an easy-to-use, confidential, online health improvement program. It gives you an overview of your health status and a customized action plan to help you improve your health. Plus, you'll have access to a variety of reliable health resources. In addition to the potential to help you improve your health, you may earn up to $180 per fiscal year for participating. Any UK employee, retiree, spouse, or sponsored dependent enrolled in a UK health plan is eligible to participate.

Weather-related Delay/Closure: What You Need to Know
With the severe cold weather we're already seeing, it's important for all UK employees to be aware of their responsibilities: For example, "essential" employees will report to work on a normal schedule even in the event of a delay or closure. Health Care Flex Spending Account (FSA) to Require Prescription for Over the Counter Drugs as of Jan. 1, 2011 As a result of recent federal health care legislation, over the counter (OTC) drugs and medicines will only be reimbursable through health care FSA with a valid prescription. Ten employees who utilize UK Career Development's online resources before December 31 will receive a free Career Kit from Career Development! Recipients of the Career Kits will be randomly selected and notified by email on January 5. SkillScan: Discover your strongest skills and their use in the workplace, as well as suggested career and educational options that align with your strengths.
Strengths for Success: Identify and learn about your personality type, how it influences the way you work, your satisfaction, and how you interact with others. A follow-up appointment with a Career Coach can help you understand more about your report.
Access SkillScan or Strengths for Success on the Career Development website now. New Features Added to myUK Employee Self-Service Employees may now enter or update tax withholding (W4/K4) through myUK Employee Self-Service (ESS). This new feature allows employees to update this information online, with no paper forms required. Watch for the ability to update bank information online coming soon. For an overview and instructions for tax withholding and other ESS features, visit the new myUK Employee Self Service Overview website. Donate to CRISIS - Make a Difference during the Holiday Season It's easier than ever to donate to the CRISIS (Crisis Relief In Situations Involving Staff) Program. Donations can be made through convenient payroll deduction or by personal check. To learn more about this employee-funded assistance program and access the donation forms, visit the website. Training Available for Adobe CS5 Design Premium Applications Employees now have the opportunity to download Adobe software, thanks to a recent agreement between UK administrators and the software company. Adobe CS5 Design Premium is part of the agreement, and includes the applications of Dreamweaver, Flash, and Photoshop, as well as several others. Training and Development is now offering instructor-led training for these applications. Visit the Technology Training web page for more information. Annual PE Deadlines 2010 Performance Evaluations are due Friday, February 25, 2011.
Annual performance evaluations are to be completed, utilizing the Performance Evaluation (PE) form, on all regular University employees for the calendar year 2010 no later than February 25, 2011. Procedures and deadlines for Healthcare employees have been established using the July 1st through June 30th review year. Healthcare PE forms and ratings for fiscal year 2009-10 have already been reported to Human Resources.
