Pro Cycling Challenge Donates Presenting Title Sponsorship to Charity Group

SRAM Files Prospectus for IPO

SRAM International Corporation could raise up to $300 million in an initial public offering, according to a preliminary prospectus filed last week with the Securities and Exchange. SRAM reported net sales of $524.1 million in 2010, and has grown at a rate of about 16 percent annually in the past four years. The company estimates it holds about 15 percent of the $3.5 billion bicycle components market. More

St. Petersburg Added to Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series

Olympic gold medalist Frank Shorter made it official Tuesday morning, helping St. Petersburg officials announce that the city will host the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series on February 12. The half-marathon race is expected to draw as many as 20,000 runners, organizers said. The St. Petersburg City Council voted this month to provide $130,000 in subsidies to the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series. More
Dick's Sporting Goods Extends Pittsburgh Marathon Sponsorship

The Pittsburgh Marathon and Dick's Sporting Goods have renewed a sponsorship agreement that will link the two through 2021, race director Patrice Maramoros announced last week. Terms of the agreement were not immediately available. Dick's Sporting Goods has been the title sponsor since the race returned from a five-year hiatus in 2009.

Dorel Reports 10% Growth in 1Q Cycling Business

Dorel Industries reported a 10 percent increase in its bicycle business for the first quarter of the year, driven by strong sales of Cannondale and GT in Europe and Australia, according to an earnings report released yesterday by the company. The quarter ended with revenue of $200.4 million, up from $181.6 million during the same three months last year. Operating profit improved by 17.9 percent. More

Tempe Officials Assure Swim Access to Tempe Town Lake

Tempe Town Lake, which hosts several triathlons each year with thousands of elite and novice athletes swimming in its waters, will continue to be available for events, City of Tempe officials announced in response to reports that swimming in the lake might be prohibited. "The City of Tempe has no intention of discontinuing swim events in Town Lake," Assistant City Manager Jeff Kulaga said. Gold City Tri Cancelled After State Parks Denies Permit

The Gold City Triathlon and Duathlon has started at the Bidwell Canyon Boat Launch on Lake Oroville, CA for the past seven years in May. But it has been canceled permanently because California State Parks denied a permit to close the boat launch. Julie Healy of Under the Sun Events said State Parks denied their permit because it would be a disservice to other park visitors to close the boat launch, especially in a high water year. More
