Nike Extends USOC Sponsorship Through 2016 Olympic Games

The U.S. Olympic Committee on Monday said it has extended its sponsorship agreement with Nike Inc. through 2016. The deal makes Nike the official outfitter of the U.S. Olympic team for the 2012 and 2016 Summer Games in London and Rio de Janeiro and the 2014 Winter Olympic games in Sochi, Russia. More

 

Amgen Tour of California Adds Women's Time Trial Challenge

AEG, the organisers of the Amgen Tour of California, today announced the details of the new Women's International Time Trial Challenge, presented by Specialized and SRAM, which will take place in Solvang, CA on May 20. Twelve of the top female time trialists in the world will compete for a $10,000 prize list in the invitation-only race, which will take place on the same course upon which the men of the 2011 Amgen Tour of California will compete. Heat, Humidity Forces Go! St. Louis to Divert Marathon Runners

Rising temperatures and high humidity led organizers of Sunday's GO! St. Louis Marathon to divert some marathon runners to the half marathon course.  GO! St. Louis president Nancy Lieberman and medical director Dr. Anthony Margherita monitored the heat and humidity every half hour after the 7 a.m. start. At 9:05 a.m., they made the call to divert runners for the first time in their 11 year history. They closed the marathon course, forcing runners who had not completed nine miles by 9:05 to run a half-marathon only. More
 
Chicago Sun-Times Renews Chicago Marathon Sponsorship

The Chicago Sun-Times has announced that it will again be the official media sponsor of the 2011 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. The sponsorship continues the Sun-Times' support of Bank of America running events, including the 2010 and 2011 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle races. More

 

SheROX Philly Tri, Philly Women's Tri Combine

The SheROX Triathlon Series today announced that the 2011 SheROX Philadelphia Triathlon and the Philadelphia Women's Triathlon will combine creating the largest all women's triathlon in the region. The combined event will take place on August 7 as the SheROX Philadelphia Triathlon and will feature a .600M swim, 25K bike, 5K run through Fairmount Park. More

 

New Balance Rolls Out Marketing Effort for Boston Marathon Weekend

New Balance is launching a "Let's Make Excellent Happen" Boston Marathon marketing campaign to coincide with the race's 115th running on Monday. Using pictures and slogans like "Excellent is Made in Boston," "Excellent Loves Heartbreak," "Excellent Makes Molehills Out of Newton Hills" and "Excellent Trained All Winter," the campaign - developed by Hub-based ad firm Arnold Worldwide - features New Balance's heritage in running and challenges consumers to achieve new levels of performance. XSports Fitness Signs Title Sponsor Deal with RnR Chicago Half
