Lifeboat Events, Triathlon America Add GearCamp to DealerCamp

Lifeboat Events, promoters of DealerCamp, has announced a promotional partnership with Triathlon America to create a Triathlon America GearCamp at DealerCamp this July 26-28 in Utah. AEG, Life Time Fitness Partner to Grow and Develop Leadville 100

AEG, the owner and operator of the Amgen Tour of California, will partner with Life Time Fitness, Inc., which owns the Leadville 100, to create a national series of qualifying races, each of which will provide athletes with guaranteed entry into the perennially sold-out Leadville Trail 100 mountain bike race. In 2011, the Leadville Qualifying Series will consist of three races and will expand to eight races by 2013. The two companies also will partner on sponsorship sales and activation for the Leadville 100. More

 

Tour of the Battenkill Organizer Wants Change in Policy

The organizer of New York's Tour of the Battenkill is threatening a lawsuit if USA Cycling and the UCI don't allow top pro teams at his April event. The event's lawyer, in a letter sent to the cycling bodies, said their recent move allowing top teams at National Racing Calendar criteriums - but not at road races like Battenkill - is "exclusionary and monopolistic." "With time growing short, we would hope to resolve this matter among 'family members' rather than seeking a resolution through a judicial forum," attorney Eugene Z. Grenz concluded. More

Tour of Utah Placed on UCI Calendar as One of U.S.'s Top Stage Races

The Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah was elevated by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) from a National Racing Calendar Event to one of the top three stage races for road cyclists in North America. "It's really quite an honor to be able to organize and host a race of this caliber and level," Steve Miller, president of the Utah Cycling Partnership, which owns the Tour of Utah, said in a press release.  Known as "America's Toughest Stage Race" the Tour of Utah will be staged August 9-14 this year. Bolder Boulder Moves Start Location

The Bolder Boulder is making the first significant course change since moving the finish line to Folsom Field in 1981. Race director Cliff Bosley said Monday the 2011 edition of the Bolder Boulder will begin at a site just north of 30th Street and Walnut Street. The location is about a mile south of the previous start line. There will also be slight modifications throughout the first two kilometers of the 10K race, he said.

Oak Island Triathlon Postponed Until 2012

Organizers of a triathlon originally slated for this summer on Oak Island, NC have postponed the event until next year now that the town council is putting together a special events permitting ordinance and fee schedule, which council members say should be completed in March. More
