World Triathlon Corporation launched yesterday an exclusive athlete membership program called Ironman Access. In addition to other member benefits, the program will offer advance registration for Ironman events worldwide before entries open to the general public. USA Cycling has announced its 2011 National Racing Calendar. Pentagon Increasing Security for Marine Corps Marathon

The Pentagon is increasing security for this weekend's Marine Corps Marathon and connected events after a recent spate of shootings at military-related buildings. The Marine Corps Marathon, one of the world's largest, starts Sunday at the Pentagon. It comes less than two weeks after an unknown person shot at the building at least six times with a high-powered rifle. More
Rocky Mountain NP to Allow Cycling Events - With Restrictions

Construction along Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park is complete, and that means large cycling events are being invited back to the park - with a few twists. The National Park Service barred large cycling events from Trail Ridge Road during the four-year repaving and reconstruction project. Next summer, as in previous summers, park officials will allow only one cycling event of more than 200 riders and only during June when Trail Ridge Road traffic is lightest. The park is requiring the event to be held Monday through Thursday, and competitive events are prohibited. More

Officials from the Air Force Marathon office here recently announced the B-1B Lancer will be the official plane for the 2011 Air Force Marathon. As the featured aircraft, the B-1B will be prominently displayed on all official marathon gear, including the finisher's medal racers receive after crossing the 26.2-mile road to the finish line. Central Oregon's Bend Bulletin announced this week that it will increase its coverage of cycling with weekly Cycling Central area in its sports section. Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival Ups Entry Limits for 2011

The Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival field in 2011 will be expanded to 1,850 in the Fat Tire 40 and 900 for the Short & Fat, according to Gary Crandall, the Fat Tire Festival founder and race director. The increase from the previous limit of 2,500 riders for both races is the first since 1991. With the demand growing, about 1,000 entries are turned away in the lottery system implemented in 1999. The number of disappointed was 154 in 2000 and reached 1,200 last year. More
Volunteer Steps Up to Keep BC's Squamish Triathlon Going Squamish Chief
Race volunteer John French has thrown a lifeline to the Squamish Triathlon - a memorial to local triathlete Bob McIntosh - by becoming its race director, saving the race from sure cancellation. Less than one month ago, the popular British Columbia event of 13 years was close to being canceled as Peter Hotston, race director since the inaugural event, announced he was stepping down. More

Kristina Olkowski has joined Back on My Feet Chicago as executive director. Back on My Feet is a non-profit organization that promotes the self-sufficiency of the homeless population by engaging them in running as a means to build confidence, strength and self-esteem. Olkowski has previously worked in the Chicago running as community relations manager at the Chicago Area Runners Association and as the community relations and special programs manager at Chicago Event Management/LaSalle Bank Corporation.
Matt Russ, the owner of Roswell, GA's The Sport Factory - a USA Triathlon Certified Performance Center, has been named the official Team USA coach for the 2011 ITU World Championships in Beijing, China. Team USA is comprised of amateur athletes that represent the United States at each ITU world championship event. .

Running Specialty Sales Representatives Company: New Balance As a Running Specialty Sales Representative, you will represent New Balance accessories, apparel, and footwear to Running Specialty Dealers and achieve sales objectives and quotas within an assigned territory.
