WTC Launches Olympic Distance 5150 Series

World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), owner of the Ironman series of triathlons, has announced the launch of a new 16-race, Olympic-distance global event series titled 5150.  The series, which will start in March 2011, has 13 U.S. events including the St. Anthony's Triathlon, the Nautica New York City Triathlon and the Hy-Vee Triathlon. The Hy-Vee race in Des Moines, IA will serve as the series' American championships. More

2011 Tour of California to Start at Lake Tahoe

The sixth running of the Amgen Tour of California will take place from May 15-22, 2011, covering eight stages from Lake Tahoe in the Northeast down to Thousand Oaks, close to Los Angeles. The riders will cover a total distance of over 800 miles. Besides the Lake Tahoe area cities there are also Auburn, Livermore, Claremont and Mount Baldy as new stage cities in 2011. More

Medtronic Extends Twin Cities in Motion Sponsorships

Medtronic, Inc. and Twin Cities In Motion (formerly Twin Cities Marathon, Inc.) announced last week that they have signed a letter of intent to continue their partnership. Medtronic will remain title sponsor for at least three additional years for four key Twin Cities In Motion events: TC 1 Mile, TC Family Events, TC 10 Mile, and the Twin Cities Marathon. Additionally, the Medtronic Foundation will continue to support the Medtronic TC Kids Marathon, a nationally recognized youth running program. More

Purdue Files Suit to Change Race Name

Purdue University filed a lawsuit Friday to stop the organizer of the Home of Purdue Half Marathon from using the university's name or keeping any profits from the October event. More

Historic Trestle Restoration on Track for Bizz Johnson Marathon

With a little bit of luck, the restoration of the historic trestle at Bridge No. 9 along California's Bizz Johnson Trail could be completed in time for this weekend's Bizz Johnson Marathon. The bridge was damaged during a wildfire in 2000 and many consider it one of the most notable features and dramatic landmarks along the 26-mile trail that once was part of a railroad line connecting Susanville and Westwood. More

Arkansas Children's Hospital Renews Little Rockers Support
Little Rock Marathon
Little Rock Marathon organizers announced this week that the Arkansas Children's Hospital has agreed to continue sponsoring the Little Rockers Kids Marathon and Training Program.  The hospital has been a sponsor of the race since its inception in 2004. The Little Rockers Kids Marathon is scheduled for March 5 as a part of the Little Rock Marathon weekend. More

Webroot to Sponsor Colorado Cross Classic 

 

Internet security provider,Webroot has signed on as top sponsor for the Colorado Cross Classic, race No. 5 of the North American Cyclocross Trophy National Series. The first CCC is scheduled for October 30 at the Boulder Reservoir cyclocross venue, and will attract approximately 500 amateur and professional racers, including top pros from all across North America. Craig Alexander, the two-time Ironman World Champion, has signed a sponsorship agreement with Boulder, CO shoe company Newton Running that will last the rest of his professional career.
 
Jared Eborn has joined SOAR Communications in Salt Lake City as an account representative.  Eborn come to SOAR from the Deseret News where he was a sports and outdoor recreation reporter.  He will work with SOAR clients including Interbike, Outdoor Retailer, Primal Wear and the Tour of Utah.
 
Jeff Littmann, the co-owner of Attitude Sports cycling shop in Pewaukee, WI and the president of the Wisconsin Cycling Association, has died from the injuries he suffered on Friday, when a motorist drove into him and professional triathlete Lauren Jensen while they were on a training ride in Nashotah, WI. He was 56. Jensen was treated at a local hospital after the crash and returned to her home in Muskego. More

As a Running Specialty Sales Representative, you will represent New Balance accessories, apparel, and footwear to Running Specialty Dealers and achieve sales objectives and quotas within an assigned territory. You will educate dealers' staff on product benefits, features, and technologies and you will explain basic biomechanics, ankle and foot anatomy, gait analysis, and shoe fitting techniques. You will facilitate product distribution, wear-testing and formal feedback gathering from Running Specialty Dealers as you serve as technical liaison for internal product teams. In this role, you will be responsible for booking orders, assisting with the management of each dealer's NB inventory, establishing model stock size roll for designated products, and developing processes to regularly replenish inventory. You will execute grassroots events including product launches, seeding, "Run N Them" test drives, event expos, races, running clinics, and medical marketing clinics.
