Dodge Signs Deal to Sponsor Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series

The Dodge Brand has announced a partnership with Competitor Group Inc. to sponsor its Rock 'n' Roll marathon series in 2010 and 2011. The sponsorship starts with Dodge as the title sponsor of the Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon in Virginia Beach on September 5. The 2010 sponsorship agreement includes Dodge as the 2010 official automotive partner and official vehicle of the Rock 'n' Roll Philadelphia Half Marathon, Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon and Half Marathon and the Rock 'n' Roll Los Angeles Half Marathon. In 2011, Dodge will be the title sponsor of the Rock 'n' Roll events in San Diego, Seattle, Virginia Beach, San Jose and Los Angeles and the official automotive partner and official vehicle of all other 2011 Rock 'n' Roll Marathons. Tour of Missouri Cancelled After State Declines Support

Organizers of the Tour of Missouri canceled this summer's bicycle race last Thursday after state tourism officials declined to help fund it. Tour of Missouri chairman Mike Weiss said organizers pulled the plug on the race after Gov. Jay Nixon's administration refused to back it or even to meet with race supporters. Earlier Thursday, a budget committee for the Missouri Tourism Commission endorsed a $13.4 million spending plan that included no state money for the race. State lawmakers had indicated a preference to allot the race $1 million. More
St. George Officials Report $7.85M Benefit from Ironman Race

Event coordinators of the May 1 Ironman St. George triathlon have finished analyzing survey results and found that the event brought nearly 10,000 people to Washington County, with athletes, family, friends and observers booking a total of 12,250 hotel nights, plus another 4,250 nights by people who stayed in homes, condos and other rentals. Based on a regional economic prediction formula of $175 spent per person per day, that amounts to $6.35 million during race week and $7.85 million total brought to the county because of the event, said Kevin Lewis, director of sports and events at the St. George Convention Center. GoodLife Fitness to Sponsor Royal Victoria Marathon

The Royal Victoria Marathon, a fixture on the Canadian running circuit since 1980, will now be known as the GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon. "GoodLife Fitness has acquired the title rights for the next three years to cover the 2010, 2011 and 2012 events," said Victoria Marathon Society president Rob Reid, who pointed out that both the company and marathon have been around for 31 years. The race will be run on October 10. More
Joint Juice to Sponsor 13.1 Marathon Chicago
Joint Juice, makers of juice products with glucosamine, vitamins and minerals to keep joints healthy, has signed on as sponsor and the official nutritional supplement of the 13.1 Marathon Chicago. The race will be run on June 13.
Advancing Beauty Systems Signs Deal with Iron Girl Series

Advanced Beauty Systems has announced that it is a presenting sponsor of the Aflac Iron Girl national women's event series for its Bodycology and Dr. Teal's brands. Launched in 2004 with two events, the Iron Girl series has grown to include 12 events nationwide, varying in distance from 5K to duathlon and triathlon. The nationwide events kicked off in April in Clearwater, FL and will wrap up on November 14 in Tempe, AZ. More

Race Central, a leader in the road race timing and technology industry, is seeking a self-reliant individual to travel to our events, manage our expo solutions area including our web-based computers and work the run on race day. The ideal candidate needs to have the people skills to work with our clients and interact with runners attending the events as well as the technical ability to set up equipment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential. Because things don't always go as planned, the ideal candidate must also be able to quickly and efficiently solve problems. This person should be capable of using computer software such as Excel and be able to learn the Race Central registration and scoring software. In addition to the skills listed above, the ideal candidate needs to have the following: bachelor's degree; ability to drive long distances, desire to travel at least 30 weekends a year, mostly by air. The typical timeline for distant events is a Wednesday departure, returning early Monday. Most events in Southern California are scheduled from Friday to Sunday.
