Runner Interest Remains Strong as Major Races Sell Out
 
This week's news shows that interest in participating in major U.S. road races continues be very strong.  The nation's two largest 10-mile races, the Army Ten-Miler in Washington, DC and the Blue Cross Broad Street Run in Philadelphia, both sold out at 30,000 runners.  Competitor Group announced that its Rock 'n' Roll Marathons in San Diego and Seattle have sold out at 30,000 and 28,000 runners respectively.  Go! St. Louis expects 23,000 runners for its races this weekend.  The ING New York City Marathon conducted its annual race lottery yesterday for its 45,000 runner field and the Marine Corps Marathon signed up over 23,000 runners in its first day of registration and is likely to reach its 30,000 limit today.  
 
NYRR Signs Three New Sponsors; Launches Marketing Platform
 
New York Road Runners has signed three new multi-year sponsors, Unilever, Nissan, and Tata Consultancy Services, for the ING New York City Marathon 2010, it was announced today by Ann Wells Crandall, NYRR Senior Vice President of Business and Marketing. Wells Crandall also announced the marathon's new "I'm In. We're In" marketing platform. More
 
Tour of California Forced to Change Stage 6 Route
Pasadena Star-News
Flooding and subsequent rock and landslides, caused by denuded slopes from last August's Station fire, have forced Amgen Tour of California race director Andrew Messick to change the route of the eight-day, May 16-23 event. The Stage 6 route, scheduled to be held May 21, will not traverse through the streets of Pasadena or La Canada Flintridge as scheduled. More

Women's Running Magazine Expands Race Series to Nashville
The Tennessean
Women's Running magazine has announced that it is expanding its Women's Half Marathon to Nashville, TN.  The race will be held on September 25.  The series orginal race was held in St. Peterburg, FL last year. More 
 
U.S. Mountain Bike Series Adds Wisconsin Event
Cycling News
For the first time in nearly a decade, the Midwest will host a US national cross country series stop. The Subaru Cup will welcome a stop on the US Pro Cross Country Tour (US Pro XCT) on June 26-27. The Subaru Cup is the annual mega-event of the Wisconsin Off Road Series, and is one of only five Pro XCT events in America during the 2010 racing season. More
 
Craft, Karhu Renew The Nation's Triathon Sponsorship
 
Organizers of The Nation's Triathlon announced this week that Craft and Karhu have renewed as sponsors.  The Nation's Triathlon takes place on  September 12 in Washington, DC.  "We are so pleased to have the participation of Craft and Karhu for the 5th Nation's Triathlon," noted Molly Quinn, president of the race. USA Triathlon Chooses World Cross Tri Qualifying Races
 
USA Triathlon has announced that XTERRA races in Waco, Richmond, and Avon, CO and the Scott Tinley Adventure triathlon will be the Team USA qualifying races for the 2011 ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships.
The inaugural ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships will be held on April 30, 2011, in Extremadura, Spain. More

Indiana Tourism Group Drops Purdue Half Marathon

After months of bickering, a Greater Lafayette tourism group has disassociated itself with a planned half-marathon in Tippecanoe County, IN.  The Lafayette-West Lafayette Convention & Visitors Bureau has terminated its relationship with the Dean Reinke Sports Group, the initial organizer of the October 24 Home of Purdue Half Marathon. More

Shape Up RI has joined the 2010 Cox Providence Rhode Races as the title sponsor of the half marathon. The announcement was made by Eident Sports Marketing and Shape Up RI. The Shape Up RI Half Marathon is part of the third annual Cox Providence Rhode Races and will be run on May 2 in Providence.
 
Hawaii Sets New Rules for Canoe Races in Boat Channels

Under new policies, Hawaii canoe clubs will be able to race in busy boat channels - for a price. The Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources and the U.S. Coast Guard clarified the issue this week in a joint statement that said while canoe races will be allowed in busy channels, the clubs will have to take extra precautions, including hiring a DLNR vessel and officers at $1,500 for a minimum of four hours to maintain water safety. More
 
California Triathlon Champion to Win Weight in Olive Oil

Owner Dewey Lucero said his company will be giving the overall winner of the race the winner's weight in olive oil to take home, which will be part of the race expo that highlights local agriculture. Communicate regularly with both print and online departments

Job Requirements:
 
Strong written and verbal communications skills
