LA Marathon Signs Honda to Title Sponsorship Deal

The Los Angeles Marathon and the American Honda Motor Company have announced that the silver anniversary edition of the race will be known as the Honda Los Angeles Marathon, launching a three-year partnership that includes naming rights and a variety of charitable, community service and marketing components. This is the first time in the marathon's 25-year history that the race will have a title sponsor. Honda has been a presenting sponsor of the marathon since 1995. More

K-Swiss and Trek Bicycle have announced the formation of the 2010 Trek/K-Swiss Triathlon Team. The joint venture between Trek and K-Swiss creates a high-level triathlon team, bringing together nine of the world's top international Ironman and Ironman 70.3 athletes. Toronto Considers Bid Process for Single Marathon in 2011
The Globe and MailToronto city hall wants the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon and the GoodLife Fitness Toronto Marathon to bid against each other for the right to play host to a single "signature" marathon beginning in 2011. The proposal is a last-ditch move by city staff, who have been trying to push one race to the spring and relieve the traffic headaches that accompany two fall marathons within three weeks. More

USA Cycling Announces Mt. Bike Challenge Series Schedule Cycling News
USA Cycling has announced the dates and venues for its 2010 American Mountain Bike Challenge (AMBC). All AMBC events will serve as qualifiers for the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships on July 15-18 in Granby, CO. Entering its 14th year in 2010, the 21-race AMBC series will visit 16 states over a period of seven months. Action will kick off with the South Eastern Regional Championship Series (SERC) opener in Gainesville, Florida, on March 14, and will conclude with the Piney Hills Classic in Ruston, Louisiana, on October 24. Durango's Iron Horse Bicycle Classic Entries on Record Pace

Cyclists are registering for Durango, CO's 39th annual Memorial Day weekend Iron Horse Bicycle Classic at a record pace, said race director Gaige Sippy. "We have filled (2,500 limit) around March 10 in the last two years. At the current rate it appears we will be full by mid- to late-February," he said. Plans Made for Cycling Monument in Boulder Park

Former Coors Classic race director Michael Aisner and his friend, landscape architect and sculptor Kimmerjae Johnson, plan to build a monument in North Boulder Park that will be a tribute to cycling. The park served as the finish line for the Red Zinger and Coors Classic bicycle races in the 1970s and 1980s. The monument will include a sweeping metal swirl, a stone archway, landscaping and video of the races. More

Always Advancing Expands Business to Europe
Always Advancing, the manufacturer of medals and awards, has expanded its business to Europe with an agreement to produce the finisher medals for the United Kingdom's new Brighton Marathon, AA president Chris Seiler has announced. Oakland Raiders Support Oakland Running Festival
The NFL's Oakland Raiders has teamed up with the City of Oakland to support the inaugural Oakland Running Festival, sports marketing and event management company Corrigan Sports Enterprises has announced. The Raiders will sponsor the first mile of the marathon course and the Raiderettes will also be in attendance to cheer on runners as they cross the finish line of the March 28 race. More
