Dubai Marathon Offers $1M World Record Bonus

That is the finding of a study done by the San Diego State University MBA program and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Houston Marathon Removes Anti-Chevron Group from Expo

A group of human rights advocates with a booth critical of the Chevron Houston Marathon's title sponsor was expelled from the marathon expo Friday for painting the company "in a negative light." Steven Karpas, the Houston Marathon managing director, said runners from Rainforest Action Network were setting up a booth with "very anti-Chevron placards and pamphlets that absolutely painted Chevron in a negative light," so he had them booted from the expo. XTERRA Winter Championship Race Cancelled for 2010

The XTERRA Winter World Championship race that combines skiing, biking, running and snowshoeing, held in early March in 2008 and 2009 at Utah's Snowbasin ski area, will not be held this year because of economic concerns. The event has been placed on hold indefinitely by TEAM Unlimited, the Hawaii-based production and marketing company that puts on XTERRA events worldwide. "We're re-evaluating our approach to winter events," said Trey Garman, spokesman for XTERRA. "We're not moving it to another venue. We're just putting it on hold." More

Scott Dickey has been promoted to the position of president of the Competitor Group (CGI). Dickey, formerly the chief operating officer. He assumes the title from president and chief executive Peter Englehart, who remains CEO. Dickey joined the board of CGI with the company formed and became the COO in May 2008. Gregg Duffy has been named senior director of performance footwear for Timberland Co. In his new role, Duffy will report to Brian Moore, global VP of men's footwear and outdoor performance, and will be responsible for the brand's entire performance portfolio, including hiking, multisport and other seasonal offerings. He joins Timberland from Merrell, where he served as the product line director for the firm's performance running line, which launched for fall '08. He previously worked for Puma and Saucony.
Pete Roggerman has been hired by Rocky Mountain Bicycles for the position of marketing manager. Roggeman comes to Rocky Mountain with a wealth of bicycle industry experience, having worked both in Europe and North America. Roggeman will be based at Rocky Mountain's Vancouver, B.C. office and will be responsible for all of Rocky Mountains global marketing initiatives.
