Crim Fitness Foundation Awarded $360,000 Grant
The Crim Fitness Foundation, the organizers of the Crim Festival of Races, has been awarded a $360,000 grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) to improve parks and increase opportunities for youth and families to be physically active in Flint, MI. Based on a rigorous selection process that drew more than 500 proposals from across the country, Flint is one of 41 sites selected for the RWJF Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities initiative. The Crim Fitness Foundation and its partners will focus efforts on improving access to, maintenance of, and overall usability of city parks for youth fitness. More
Houston Looks to Host Both 2012 Marathon Trials Races Houston ChronicleHouston has joined New York and Boston as one of three finalists bidding to host the 2012 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials. Organizers of the Chevron Houston Marathon have bid to host both the men's and women's races according to race managing director Steven Karpas. New York seeks only the men, and Boston is after the women. They were the respective sites of the 2008 men's and women's trials. More

Burlington to Host 2011, 2012 USA Triathlon Championships Competitor.com
USA Triathlon has announced the city of Burlington, VT, will host the 2011 and 2012 USAT Age Group, Sprint and Elite National Championships. The date of the events has not been determined, but organizers expect the events to be held in August in both 2011 and 2012 at a venue near Lake Champlain and Battery Park. More

Hot Springs to Again Host USA Cycling Mountain Bike Event
Hot Springs, AR has been chosen for the second year in a row to host a USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Race Calendar event on February 27 - 28 at Cedar Glades Park. The event is part of the USA Cycling Ultra Endurance National Race Calendar and will offer a $2500 prize purse for the solo division.

Corrigan Sports Pleased With Interest In Oakland Running Festival

More than 2,500 people have signed up for the Oakland Running Festival, the first event of its kind in the city in more than two decades, organizers said. "We're very pleased," said Lee Corrigan, founder of Corrigan Sports Enterprises, which is putting together the event. "At this point, with the pace, if you will, of people signing up, we're right on target to get to our goal of between 7,500 and 8,000 runners total." The two-day festival planned for March 27-28 will include a full marathon, a half marathon, a team relay, a twilight 5-K run and a kids fun run, organizers said. More
