Ramblin' Rose Triathlon Series Adds New Races for 2010

Demand for slots in Endurance Magazine's Ramblin' Rose Women Only Triathlon Series has led organizers to add two new venues for the 2010 tour. The series, now at five total events throughout the Carolinas, will include new events in Raleigh and Rock Hill, SC. The Raleigh event will take place May 23rd at the A.E. Finley YMCA and the Rock Hill event will take place July 11th at the Rock Hill Aquatic Center. Other cities in the series include Winston-Salem, Charlotte and the series' finale in Chapel Hill. With the new venues in 2010, an expected 3,500 women will cross the finish line at a Ramblin' Rose triathlon. More

LLS Named Sole Beneficiary of San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) has been named the sole beneficiary of San Diego's Rock N Roll Marathon, which is planned for June 6. Eugene Marathon Creates New Women's Half Marathon
The organizers of the Eugene Marathon this week announced the creation of a new event, the Eugene Women's Half Marathon. The race will be held next September 5 and will be capped at 2500 runners and walkers. The event will be a fund raising platform for the American Cancer Society and the Ovarian Cancer Alliance.
CareFirst BCBS to Sponsor National Half Marathon
The Greater Washington Sports Alliance has announced that CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield has agreed to be the title sponsor of the National Half Marathon, to be held on March 20 in conjunction with the SunTrust Bank National Marathon. The agreement is for two years. Both events are run within the District of Columbia.

Jim Elias, USA Track & Field's managing director of business affairs Jim Elias has announced that he will be leaving the organization at the end of the year. Elias has worked for USATF for 11 years serving many roles including chief financial officer and chief operating officer. He played a significant role in steering USATF out of a financial crisis by helping the governing body run surplus budgets and establishing financial policies and controls.
Emilio Di Toro, president of the European Triathlon Union since 2005, died suddenly from a heart attack on November 28. He was 45. He also was the president of the Italian Triathlon Federation.
Ryan and Sara Hall, the founders of the Hall Steps Foundation which was formed this year to fund programs to create a better life for youth living in poverty in the United States and abroad, have been named Visa Humanitarian Athletes of the Year by USA Track & Field. The Halls will be honored this Saturday at the Jesse Owens Awards and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Indianapolis. Ryan Hall won the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon and placed third at this year's Boston Marathon. Sara Hall is a nationally-ranked 1500-meter runner.

The Manager, Operations will lead one operations team for a group of 5-8 events, with a focus on course design and implementation. The manager will also guide and oversee all other operational aspects of the race at a macro level, including start line, finish line, band sites, water stations, cheer sites, medical stations, etc. This will include designing all band sites, cheer sites and medical stations which requires a keen sense of direction and understanding of the scope of the event. The position will include high-level coordination with city special events offices, police, traffic control, local contractors, vendors and management of staff to aid the successful execution of the event, and as such will require a significant amount of travel, often for up to a week at a time. The position will also require the ability to work in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment with the added ability to multi-task. All this must be done in a professional manner with the ability to work well in a team atmosphere.
Minimum Qualifications:
5 Years experience in design, implementation and coordination of running courses.
Detail oriented and organized.
Ability to multi-task and work on many divergent tasks simultaneously.
Ability to lead and manage a team of internal and contracted staff to implement the operations of the event.
Ability to create and manage budgets.
Computer design skills a plus.
Bachelors Degree Preferred
