Sydney, Seoul, Budapest Added to 2010 ITU World Series

Sydney, Seoul and Budapest have been added to the Dextro Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championship Series calendar for 2010, joining existing world class events in Madrid, London, Kitzbühel and Hamburg, ITU annouced this week. The 2010 Amgen Tour of California will venture high up into the Sierra Nevada Mountains, dispense with the traditional prologue, include a time trial in Los Angeles and feature the first mountaintop finish in the race's four-year history at Big Bear, tour organizers announced today. The biggest change for the eight-day event remains the move from February to May (16-23), pitting it against the Giro d'Italia. Still, race organizers expect a field of comparable strength to 2009, when world champions and former winners of the Tour de France and Paris-Roubaix lined up alongside America's best riders. More
Toronto Officials Start to Look at Marathon Race Scheduling
Toronto Sun Toronto city officials want organizers of the city's two Toronto marathons to take this idea and run with it: keep a six-month gap between the events or combine them into one big event. Officials are examining the way marathons are scheduled after hosting the Goodlife Fitness Toronto Marathon and the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon in the past month. "We hope to reach that agreement amicably, but if necessary, we may have to bring a report to committee and council early next year," said Peter Noehammer, a city transportation director. More
