Honorary Street Name Recognizes Chicago Marathon's Pinkowski

To commemorate his 20 years of leadership as the Executive Race Director of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, Carey Pinkowski was recognized today by the City of Chicago and Bank of America with an honorary street naming at the site of the race's start line. The intersection of Monroe Street and Columbus Drive now bears the name "Carey Pinkowski Drive."  Also Bank of America and Nike announced a $100,000 joint commitment in support of youth running in Chicago. Those efforts will begin immediately with the refurbishment of the Chicago Public Schools' Hanson Stadium which plays host to track & field and football events at both the elementary and high school levels. More

Dorel Creates Apparel Footwear Group Based at Sugoi HQs

Dorel Industries Inc. said this week it is stepping up efforts to speed growth at its performance apparel division, part of its recreational/leisure unit. The newly named Apparel Footwear Group (AFG) will incorporate Sugoi Performance Apparel as well as the apparel lines of the Cannondale, GT, Schwinn, Iron Horse and Mongoose bicycle brands. "Our plans include investment in new equipment, facilities and additional employees," Dorel said. As of January, Sugoi's operations will relocate to a 70,000-square-foot facility in Vancouver. AFG will also focus on building custom apparel business, developing specific riding and running uniforms for teams and clubs. The new Vancouver plant will enable Sugoi to boost custom apparel capacity and offer lead times well above industry standards. More

ICU Votes for Three-Year Phase Out of Radio Use

The International Cycling Union has voted to phase out the use of two-way radios in all categories of road racing over the next three years.
Professional teams who use two-way radios often warn other riders of crashes, tricky turns, and dangerous road conditions.  Radios are also used to discuss race tactics. Officials of the UCI want bicycling to return to its roots as an independent mental and physical effort. Radios have been banned in junior and under-23 events for the past few years, reducing race director conversation to face-to-face contact.
 
Omaha to Host New Triathlon Next Summer

The Omaha Sports Commission announced Wednesday that the Nebraska city will host a new triathlon. The first Omaha Triathlon is scheduled for next August 1. The swimming portion of the event will be held in Carter Lake, the biking portion will pick up at Carter Lake, move along 10th Street to turn around at the Henry Doorly Zoo, then come back along 10th, circle around Eppley Airfield, then wrap up near Carter Lake, where the running portion continues along a riverfront trail.  Bill Burke of Premier Event Management will be the race director. Garmin Signs Sponsorship Deals with Kastor, Hall

Two U.S. marathon stars, Deena Kastor and Ryan Hall, have signed sponsorship deals with Garmin International. Kastor will be running in this Sunday's Chicago marathon, where she'll be among the favorites. Likewise, Hall will be one to watch in the New York City marathon on November 1.
As part of its sponsorship promotion, Garmin said will unveil limited edition versions of its FR60 fitness watch, which will be available at the race sites and select retailers in those cities. More
 
Atlantic City Marathon Rescheduled for November

The 51st Atlantic City Marathon, postponed indefinitely last month, has been rescheduled for November 15. Longtime race director Barbara Altman confirmed Thursday night that a successor has been found to take over her duties as coordinator and that the event, the third oldest continually run marathon in the country, would be held next month. Cherry Blossom Run to Use Lottery for 2010 Race Entries

After the 2009 Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile run filled its on-line quota of 12,000 runners last year in just 2 hours and 45 minutes, the organizers have decided to institute a lottery system for entry into the 2010 event. Under the new system, entrants will be able to register for the lottery over a 10-day period between December 1-10. Lottery results will be posted on the event website on December 15. More

The Lilac Bloomsday Association has agreed to sponsor Spokane, WA's  upcoming All-City Cross Country Meet, part of an after-school elementary sports program, Active4Youth. In a press release, Bloomsday race director Don Kardong said, "Bloomsday is really pleased to support this program. This is a wonderful opportunity for kids in Spokane to get in shape and learn about distance running." Active4Youth was founded by attorney Mike Bresson.  The program has started with cross country it can incorporate so many children without equipment fees. More

North Carolina Marathon Moves Race Date

The North Carolina Marathon, which will be contested for a third time in 2010, is moving to March 20. That'll put the race and companion half-marathon and 5K six weeks earlier and in weather that is historically 11-12 degrees cooler than the early May date of the race's first two years.
The races moved to High Point this year after a debut in Greensboro in May 2008.

· Develop all production patterns and spec sheets for SUGOi's product lines
· Preparing patterns for grading
· Schedule final fit sessions
· Approve production sample for grading
· Prioritize and maintain production deadlines of completed patterns, finalized spec sheets with flat measurements and approved samples

· Assist in resolving production concerns/problems in construction, sizing, patterns, bundling....
