Universal Sports, WTC Sign Broadcast Deal

Sports broadcaster Universal Sports has signed a multi-year broadcast and digital media agreement with the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), the owner and organizer of Ironman and Ironman 70.3 event brands. 2009 Falmouth Road Race Breaks Fundraising Record

The CIGNA Falmouth Road Race broke its fund-raising record by more than $100,000 at this year's 37th running, raising $1.41 million for the 68 groups it supports with its Numbers-for-Nonprofits program. This year's top fundraiser was Dana-Farber Cancer Institute of Boston, with more than $192,000, followed by Compassionate Care ALS of North Falmouth, which raised $177,000, and Children's Hospital Boston at $121,000. Study Reports RnR Seattle Created $30.8M Impact

The summer's inaugural Rock 'n' Roll Seattle Marathon and Half Marathon produced an economic impact of $30.8 million, according to a third party study conducted by San Diego State University study. Presented at the Seattle Sports Commission board meeting, the report showed that the event generated 12,223 hotel room nights and more than $1.8 million in new tax revenue and other tourism-related fees collected by local municipalities. The race attracted an estimated total of 12,076 participants from out of town and 16,353 total visitors. More

The addition of a time-trial stage in Allentown has made the Univest Grand Prix a two-stage event. Before an international field of professional and amateur bicyclists compete in a 100-mile road race on Saturday, approximately 25 teams will compete against the clock Friday in the Lehigh County city. According to Joe McDermott, a spokesperson for Sparta Cycling, the race's organizer, the fastest performer from Friday's 7.2-mile sprint will wear the yellow jersy during Saturday's event. More
