Interest in Minimalist Shoes Inspires Innovation

Interest by some runners in less footwear has inspired some innovative footwear. Upstart companies like Vibram, Feelmax and Terra Plana are challenging the running-shoe status quo with thin-sole designs meant to combine the benefits of going barefoot with a layer of protection. The move toward minimalism could have a significant impact on not only running shoes but also on the broader $17 billion sports shoe market. More
ASICS Surveys European Runners on Reasons to Run

According to a survey commissioned by ASICS of 3,500 runners in seven European countries, 54% said they run for fitness while 40% claimed they ran to lose weight. Thirty four percent said declared they do it for fun and 35% as a means of stress-relief. Executed by the research institute Synovate, ASICS' 'Reasons to Run' research asked more than 3,500 runners in seven European countries to reveal the 'why?' behind their actions, making it the biggest study of its kind. Run Wild Racing Expands Race Series to Pittsburgh

Columbus, OH-based Run Wild Racing has announced that it is expanding its half-marathon series to Pittsburgh with the new MedExpress Spirit of Pittsburgh Half Marathon. The race will take place on November 1, beginning and ending in the SouthSide Works. Run Wild CEO and race director Doug Grout said it will be a fairly flat, fast course that will cross four bridges and encompass some of the city's best scenery. More
Legal Dispute Threatens Future of Australian Marathon

The future of the Canberra Marathon is up in the air because of a serious rift between the runners and the company which organises the event. Cundy Sports Marketing has lodged documents with the Federal Court asking for orders recognising its rights to the event. West Virginia Race Committee Votes to Keep Distance

The Events Manager will manage, organise and implement plans and initiatives for the portfolio of running events the charity is currently involved in. These events include The London Marathon, Great North Run, British 10k, London Triathlon etc.In this role you will plan, organise and support the involvement of the charity and their participants in the events, source and manage volunteers and staff support at the events as well as developing the runners network in order to increase their level of support and to integrate them into other events.You will also produce regular communication (eg newsletters for each event), ensure delivery of sponsorship income and line managing an events assistant.).

Sponsorship sales position for an event promotion company that hosts a series of triathlons in Arizona and Mexico as well as a national 5K running race series.
