A Word From David Stockwell:
Reaching Africa for Christ
Students in Uganda respond to the Gospel
 April 19, 2010

Dear ,

The strong words of the great Scottish missionary explorer, Dr. David Livingstone, often serve to remind me of the great privilege of preaching the Gospel on African soil. Words preserved on his tombstone in Westminster Abbey cry out even now: "All I can say in my solitude is, 'May heaven's richest blessing come down on every one -- American, English, Turk -- who will help to heal this open sore of the world!' "

This mighty man of God, who gave his life to reach the people of Africa with the Good News of Jesus Christ...who suffered indescribable personal and physical anguish, including the death of his wife and baby daughter of malaria...who resolutely stared death in the face so many times, in the form of lion attacks, tribal warfare, disease, privation and starvation...this man plowed the ground of the hearts of men as well as the soils of the African terrain...he soaked it with his blood, sweat and tears, as he traveled by foot, oxen and donkey; he helped to make it ready for those of us who travel so easily now by airplane and vehicle...we are the recipients of a fertile field, a ripe and ready harvest of souls, all across the African continent.

Oh, may we never forget those who have gone before us, and who have given so much to gain so little of what the "world" calls success! I know the crown of righteousness is laid up for men such as David Livingstone, who gave their all in service to their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

What a joy it is to serve the Lord Jesus, the precious Lamb of God! What a privilege to speak of His suffering, His shed blood, His death on the cross, His burial, and His triumphant resurrection! Jesus told us in the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20 to GO and TELL, to teach people about Him, and to disciple the nations. And, He promised that He would be with us ALWAYS!
We want to reach the whole world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ! We are so excited about the doors God has opened for us this year to minister in Kenya and Tanzania! Please pray with us that lives would be changed, as Amy and I travel with our team to Nairobi, Kenya, May 18-June 1, and to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania in July. We have great opportunities to train Christian leaders in those countries, and to reach multitudes of people with the Good News of Jesus Christ! Our N.E.S.T. (National Evangelist Support Team)Program is being established in both of these nations; we are so grateful that God keeps bringing us in contact with faithful men and women who want to serve Him, whom we can train and support, to help them do the work of evangelism in their countries!

Thank you so very much for praying for us and standing with us, as we travel and spread this awesome, life-changing message of Jesus Christ to the nations. We pray God's richest blessings upon you!

Your friend and partner in the Gospel,

David

"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations . . . teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always . . ."  Matthew 28:18-20

"And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ . . ."  Ephesians 4:11-16
David Stockwell has proclaimed the Good News of Jesus Christ as a full-time evangelist for over forty years.  David and his wife, Amy, have expanded the international ministry of DSEA in many countries in Africa, Central and South America, Asia and Europe. Together, the Stockwells are committed to the clear, uncompromising communication of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Scott Nute and Dan Grindstaff on mission with Kenyan Team
Report from Staff Evangelist Scott Nute:  Kenya/Tanzania Mission

God moved tremendously on our recent mission project!  February 18-March 14, DSEA Staff Evangelist Dan Grindstaff and I spoke in fifty-four school programs in Kisumu, Kenya and Chalinze, Tanzania.  The Lord blessed the preaching of the Gospel as 14,234 people publicly expressed their intent to repent of their sins and surrender their lives to Jesus Christ!

In Kenya, we had valuable mentoring and training time with our Kenyan NEST (National Evangelist Support Team) Team!  One of our NEST Evangelists, along with other leaders in Kisumu, is deaf.  These gifted men of God "preach" the Gospel through sign language and other methods, and they are leading countless hundreds of the deaf to Jesus Christ!  To the hearing Kenyan evangelists, we gave a compact, portable sound system and small, portable machines that play the Bible, called Proclaimers.  These men will use the sound system to preach the Gospel year-round in schools and other outreach events, and through the Proclaimers share the recorded Word of God with their people in their native languages of Kiswahili and Maasai.

In Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, we hosted a Leadership Development Conference for forty-five evangelists, pastors and various church leaders.  Dan and I shared instructional messages on How to Deliver an Evangelistic Message, Using Tracts, The Work of An Evangelist, and Principles of Revival.  What a pleasure it was to be able to play a part in helping to equip leaders throughout Tanzania for the work of ministry!

Thank you for your support, prayers and partnership in the Gospel!

For Kenya, Tanzania, all of Africa...and the entire world, we are in His service,

Scott

Amy StockwellSpotlight On The Staff

Amy Leigh Stockwell

They strain to see, they listen intently, they clap, they cheer, they weep...and then the crowd erupts into a standing ovation of praise to the Lord Jesus Christ, as Amy Stockwell finishes her song to the Lord.

In nations all around the world, I have watched in awe, as God has used Amy to minister His love to people, young and old, in such desperate circumstances. As she teaches on "Who We Are In Christ"to groups of women who have nothing in this world, they shout and cry in gratitude as they begin to understand from the Word of God that, in Christ, they have everything they need.

That is just the tip of the iceberg of what Amy means to David Stockwell Evangelistic Association.  On our mission projects, she is in charge of all the logistics to "make everything happen."  I am reminded of the wife of early twentieth century evangelist, Billy Sunday, "Ma" Sunday, who ran the entire ministry for her husband.  Amy is responsible for all the organization and thousands of details that must be managed to make our ministry effective.  She oversees all the correspondence for our ministry around the world; her help in decision- making processes is invaluable.

I believe Amy learned her lessons well at the feet of her godly mom and dad.  God has used her background in theatre and music at Baylor University, and her ten years serving on the staff of our pastor, Dr. Ed Young, at Second Baptist Church and School, to prepare her to "run the operation" at DSEA.  What a blessing it is to have such a dedicated, competent, talented, gifted, and anointed person to get all this done with such love, joy, and grace.  Amy is able to look at a situation, think about what must be done to see it accomplished, and then do "whatever it takes" to make it happen.  In short, she is the most "CAN DO" person I have ever known.

Of course, for me, personally, to have such a beautiful, godly, talented, kind, hard-working, supportive, encouraging wife is a blessing beyond description.  It always amazes me how deeply Amy loves the Lord, how far she is willing to go to love people, and how much she is willing to sacrifice to help me to fulfill God's ministry in my life.  Thank you, Lord Jesus, for my Amy Leigh!

With joy,

David
