Please excuse our dust...
You may have noticed that one of our old T-Hangars, 674, is no longer standing. Due to strong winds in the spring, several T-Hangar roofs were damaged, one of them so badly that the cost of repair exceeded the value of the building. In it's place, planned for 2013, will be a new steel T-Hangar building. Also planned for demolition is Hangar 511 on the north side of the airfield. If these projects cause any difficulty in operating on the airfield, please notify the airport administration  office.
Congressman Sensenbrenner Stands Up for Corporate Aviation

In October, Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner signed a bipartisan letter to the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction to oppose President Obama's proposed aviation user fees, which would impose a $100 per flight user fee on corporate aircraft.  This week, the Committee announced that it has failed to reach a deficit reduction fee, which means that the proposed fees will not be enacted...at least for the time being.  We encourage you to stay informed of federal efforts to impose fees on corporate aviation, and reach out to your local representatives on issues that could be detrimental to the corporate members of our aviation community, and to the airport itself.

Welcome New Tenants!
Over the past few months, two new tenants have joined the Waukesha County Airport pilot community.  Please welcome Vanessa Jago and Bob Groh in the Southwest Hangar area along Aviation Drive.  Vanessa flies a beautiful silver T-6 and participated in the Wings over Waukesha air show this year. Please be sure to say hello and welcome Vanessa and Bob when you see them.

Airplane or Hangar for Sale?
Would you like to sell, lease or find a partner for your airplane or hangar?  39% of Waukesha County Airport tenants say they intend to buy a new or used aircraft in the next few years, and 31% intend to buy or rent a hangar.  Our website includes free classified advertising for airport tenants so you can reach interested buyers directly.  Check it out at

Greetings!

What a year it has been at Waukesha County Airport! From the Networking After 5 Business Alliance event to Wings Over Waukesha Air Show, we've shown the community what an asset they have in this airport. None of this would have been possible without the enthusiasm and assistance you all displayed as an airport community.

Thank you to everyone who has made Crites Field their home over the last 76 years. We are very thankful this year for the motivation and dedication of the pilots, enthusiasts and clubs on the field that continually introduce new people to aviation and keep the aviation dream and spirit alive for the next generation. Without all of you, this field and this passion wouldn't be nearly as strong as it is today.

From our families to yours, have a safe and very happy Thanksgiving.

Fly Safe,

Kurt Stanich

Commemorative Air Force Welcomes T-6 at Open House
Warbird enthusiasts joined the Commemorative Air Force Wisconsin Wing for an Open House on November 19th to welcome their new warbird, a 1943 Navy SNJ-5 from Marysville, CA. "This is really an outstanding Warbird that will add to every dimension of the Wisconsin Wing," said Operations Officer Col. Gary Otto.

The newly assigned bird is formally tagged a Navy SNJ-5 but is more commonly known as the the "North American T-6", or "Texan" (due to the primary manufacturing plant in Texas). Since this advanced trainer was used by so many countries to train thousands of pilots to be proficient Warbird pilots, it earned the nickname "The Pilot Maker."

The CAF would like to thank their members near and far who supported the efforts to secure the SNJ for the WI Wing, especially those who offered pledges of support for sponsorship and the ongoing expenses of keeping this T-6 hangared, maintained, and insured. A small percentage of CAF members are active Warbird pilots, but all CAF members are serious military aviation enthusiasts who are honored to be able to help carry out the CAF mission and be associated with the fine people and fascinating aircraft of the CAF. New WI Wing members and CAF aircraft supporters are always welcomed and encouraged.

Wings Over Waukesha - Gearing Up for 2012!
The Wings over Waukesha Airshow was a great event in 2011 with about 14,000 guests and an amazing array of aircraft from the B-25 to a PV2 Harpoon, a C130 Transport, dozens of Warbirds and four of the best aerobatics acts in the country.  We are already planning for an even better event on August 25 - 26, 2012.  Mark your calendars now to be here for all of the excitement and fun.  You can find photos from the 2011 event on Flickr.  If you're interested in getting involved with the 2012 event, please contact Kurt Stanich for information about flying in the airshow or displaying your aircraft, volunteering or becoming a sponsor.

If you are working on your year-end charitable donations, please keep Wings over Waukesha in mind to help support next year's air show.  Donations can be sent to:

Plane Safe Hosts Customer Appreciation Event
On October 15th, Plane Safe Aircraft Maintenance Inc. hosted their annual customer appreciation event. Owners Sam and Druanne Cryer pulled out all the stops on a Halloween themed event that was also a fundraiser for Wings Over Waukesha. Raffle prizes were donated by SkyCom Avionics, Plane Safe, Wings Over Waukesha, World Airshow News, and Demlang Leasing. Even though high winds grounded the planned flying activities, the ghouls and goblins in attendance were kept at bay with plenty of good food, beverages and hangar flying.

Youth Aviation Adventure!
The Waukesha Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) hosted their first Youth Aviation Adventure (YAA) program at Waukesha County Airport on September 17th. Thanks to the leadership of 2nd Lt. Pam Bourque and cooperation from Atlantic Aviation, Midwest Air Traffic Control, and many airport businesses, over 130 kids and adults enjoyed a fun-filled day of education on 20 different areas of aviation. The CAP is already looking forward to hosting this event again next year.
