Flight for Life in the News

Our Flight for Life crew has been making news lately with two recent articles  in the Waukesha Patch.  The first article, which you can read here, marks a significant milestone of 30,000 flights without an accident or a major incident.  Considering the difficult, time-intensive work they are doing, this is a truly remarkable accomplishment and a testament to their attention to safety.  The second article, which appeared later in July in the Waukesha Patch, followed the crew on a training exercise with the Waukesha Fire Department.  Preparing a landing zone and getting critically ill or wounded patients safely onto the aircraft is no easy feat.  You can read the full article by clicking on this link, Congratulations to Flight for Life!

Coffee Talk is Back!
After a summer hiatus, the Waukesha Aviation Club will once again be hosting Coffee Talk on Sunday, September 25th from 8 - 10 a.m.  Mark your calendars and plan to attend.
New Signs are Here!
New signs have now been installed  to help the community find the Waukesha County Airport from I-94 and the main arteries that lead to Airport Drive.   We are also working to get a new sign at the corner of Airport Drive and Northview to more effectively alert drivers to our whereabouts.  This sign is expected in the fall.  We'll keep you "posted" if these plans change for any reason.

Greetings!

Wings over Waukesha is right around the corner and we're very excited to have a full air show, with an FAA-approved airbox, to showcase national aerobatic acts including Jim "Fang" Maroney Super Chipmunk aerobatics, John Mohr Stearman barnstorming aerobatics, Dave Dacy-Tony Kazian wingwalking, and Dr Bill Blank Super Decathlon aerobatics .  We've also booked the B-25 from the Yankee Air Museum, a C130 from the Minneapolis USAF Reserve unit and a variety of other local and visiting aircraft from the air show circuits.  The Sky Knights will kick off the show with a parachute drop on the field each day.

You can join in the fun and fly your aircaft in a "Local Aircraft Showcase" around 10am each day of the show. If you want to fly or display your aircraft during Wings Over Waukesha, please contact the event planning team at wingsoverwaukesha@gmail.com and provide your contact and aircraft information. We'd love to see as many of you as possible there to show our guests what makes the Waukesha County Airport community such a great place to be!

We're also still looking for volunteers to help out with a variety of roles.  If you'd like to join the fun and excitement for a few hours, just complete the Volunteer Form.  It's that easy!

We encourage you to bring your family to the event which includes kids activities and a hot air balloon glow on Saturday evening with live music and refreshments.  Admission is only $5.00, and kids under 12 are free.  All of the details are at www.wingsoverwaukesha.com . Come on out!

Fly Safe,

Take the Ride of a Lifetime in a B-25!

B-25

The Yankee Air Museum will bring its B-25 "Mitchell" bomber to Waukesha County Airport for the Wings over Waukesha Air Show and you could get a ride in this historic gem while it's in town from August 26 - 28!  Only seven people can ride in the B-25 at a time and the cost per person is $400.  If you would like to reserve a ride for yourself or someone special in your life, call 517-404-1061.
Farewell to a Friend of the Airport
In July, we were saddened to learn of the passing of Roger Bensing at age 75 after a courageous battle with cancer.  Roger's life-long affiliation with Waukesha County Airport began by pumping gas at the age of 16.  He earned his first airplane from Dale Crites and became a lifelong pilot.  He was one of the longest tenured  members of the Waukesha Aviation Club and was also a founding member of the Wisconsin Skydiving Club.  Roger and his wife, Gail, owned and operated Bensing Alarm and Answering Service in Waukesha until his retirement in 1986.
Airplane or Hangar for Sale?
Would you like to sell, lease or find a partner for your airplane or hangar?  39% of Waukesha County Airport tenants say they intend to buy a new or used aircraft in the next few years, and 31% intend to buy or rent a hangar.  Our website includes free classified advertising for airport tenants so you can reach interested buyers directly.  Check it out at Airport Classified Advertising.
The Waukesha County Airport/Crites Field Newsletter is intended to inform airport tenants, visitors and other interested individuals about the latest events, news and services available to them at the airport.  If you would like to see a topic featured in the next newsletter, please contact Kurt Stanich in airport operations at kstanich@waukeshacounty.gov or call 262-521-5250.
