The RSC Corner: #4    Clear Creek closing

The Clear Creek Festival is approaching, September 2-4, in Berea, KY. ROOT-ers Bobby B and Carrie B organize this yearly arts and healing festival. Over the course of three days, the Clear Creek Festival will draw together members of the surrounding rural and urban communities along with guests from throughout the south and across the country with the intention of building community, promoting healing and transformation, and inspiring all of us to live more sustainably -- in harmony with nature and with one another.

RSC folk Kathie DeNobriga, Eleanor Brownfield, Trey Hartt, with the help from Maurice Turner and Paula Larke will facilitate a pre-festival Learning Exchange aimed at advancing the Clear Creek Festival as a vehicle for social change and transformation. For six months this team, with Bobby and Carrie, have been working to organize a day and a half gathering using creativity to explore the potential for creating an uplifting and visionary space at the festival and offer opportunities for people from the surrounding community to connect.

---------------------------------------------

Individual and community transformation is at the heart of the Clear Creek Learning Exchange.  At its core lies the principle that individual/personal transformation can lead to community transformation and social change.

According to the organizers of the festival, "The Clear Creek Festival provides us with an opportunity to envision and enact what an alternative society can be -- a loving, liberated society that actively challenges patriarchy, racism, homophobia, environmental degradation and the other injustices that we face in our region and throughout America."

How does your work or community support an environment of individual and community transformation?

Strategic Planning 2012

Alternate ROOTS is currently in the process of developing the strategic plan to guide the direction of the organization over the course of the next 3-5 years. As part of that process ROOTS will take a careful inventory of all of our programs and services. As we evaluate our programs, specifically our re-granting programs C/APP (Community/Artist Partnership Program) and Artistic Assistance will not have fall cycles. Please stay tuned for further information about the next opportunities to participate in these programs.

In addition, if you are interested in being hands on in the Strategic Planning process, please send an email to stratplan@alternateroots.org for more information.
