GRANT OPPORTUNITIES
2011 Community / Artist Partnership Program Application Deadline October 15, 2010.
The Community/Artists Partnership
Program (C/APP) was initiated in 1993 to provide artists
community training, technical assistance, and project support in the
field of community-based arts. All program activities are meant to
foster exemplary and equitable collaborations between artists and the
communities they partner with.
The C/APP Grant Program supports
partnerships and collaborations for projects that extend or deepen the
presence of artists within a community, at home or on the road. Through
these projects, artists work with communities using the arts to
highlight community assets or address critical issues; or they partner
with communities to convene events that allow for an exchange of
information with other artists and community members to take place.
Project Support (up to $10,000) -
This application is for projects from the development through the
production stage and needs the written commitment of partner(s) and a
timeline describing the scope of the project. Funds must be matched
dollar-for-dollar with at least 50% cash and no more than 50% in-kind
support.
For more information and to download the application form, guidelines, and partnership work kit please go to www.alternateroots.org/programs/capp.

What a Difference a Year Makes
There are so many people to thank for this year's Annual Meeting, without whom the meeting would not have happened let alone be the rousing success it was. Among many, board, staff, and members of the Annual Meeting team, and the volunteers who pitched in and rolled up their sleeves, are those whose donations and grants provided the material support needed to fund operations, projects, services and programs.
Alternate ROOTS has experienced an incredible year of growth, recognition, and momentum since the 2009 Annual Meeting. Along with the renewal of support from key funders, ROOTS is also thrilled to receive first time support from new national funders. In this issue we recognize the support of institutional donors such as foundations, corporations and government. In the next issue we will recognize and thank all of our individual donors.
Alternate ROOTS is grateful for the support from: Renewed Support
- Nathan Cummings - $200,000 - 2 years
- Ford Foundation - $300,000 - 2 years
- The Fund for Southern Communities - $6,600
- National Endowment for the Arts - $70,000
New Grants - Kresge Foundation - $200,000 - 2 years
- The Open Society Foundations - $200,000 - 2 years

House Party Saturday, September 18 Knoxville, TN
What's
a house party, you ask? It's a fundraiser where someone opens his/her
home and invites people to come, be entertained, learn
more about the organization, and yes, typically there's a pitch at the
end of the night. Margo Miller has graciously agreed to kick off a full
season of house parties to happen all around the region. Good luck,
Margo! We can't wait to hear how it goes.
