Annual Meeting 2010
Have you packed yet?

Annual Meeting registration is filling up.
We only have 200 slots and once we reach that magic number, we have to close the camp gates!
If you have any questions about the registration process, please feel free to call Shannon or Bethany in the office at 404-577-1079.

Hot off the presses!  The daily schedule has been published for your advanced preview.  Now, don't get all persnickety if things have to change.  We're a bit wishy-washy that way.

Margo hulahooping on stiltsHow Am I Getting There?

Planes, trains, and automobiles.  Stilts and hulahoops?  There are a lot of ways to arrive at the A.M.  And we're ready for all of them.  If you're coming by plane, we can pick you up at the airport by shuttle van. (Make sure you're logged in on the website to make that post.) If you need a ride, please use the Ride Share board

Atlanta Shuttle?

There are a lot of people who are coming from Atlanta, so we are considering renting a car or van that would leave on Tuesday morning and come back on Sunday afternoon.  If you would be interesting in signing up for that ride, please write to Ebony ASAP at furiousflower@gmail.com.  It would be greatly appreciated if you could kick in some money for this endeavor, but an equal split is not required.  We just want to help get you there.

living darwinWhat Do I Bring to the AM?

Funny you should ask that.  We've got a whole page on the website dedicated to just this matter.  But we'd like to point out a special request...

The Youth Village will be making flags for where they're from and costumes for themselves throughout the week, and they'd like to enlist your support.  If you could bring any extra scraps of cloth or costume pieces for these projects, they'd be so grateful.  Please mark anything with your name that you'd like returned and be sure to get back with Theresa Cunningham, our stalwart Youth Captain, when you're ready to depart.

Ashley SparksBusiness Meetings

We're going to do some very exciting business at this year's Annual Meeting.  Here are some items on the agenda:
  • amend the by-laws to include representatives on the Executive Committee from Texas & Arkansas as per our previous expansion of the service region
  • planning and visioning for ROOTS Fest 2011: Many Communities, One Voice (our 35th Anniversary celebration to take place June 22-26, 2011 in Baltimore, MD)
  • elect officers for the coming year and welcome new members
As we mentioned before, the daily schedule is now available online.

Work Co-Op

If you weren't with us last year (and really, even if you were), we encourage you to take a few minutes to read the page about the work co-op.

As you registered, you made a first and second choice for how you wanted to contribute to this community that we build across the week we are together.  Generally, everyone is able to do their first choice.

We estimate that everyone should work in his/her work co-op position approximately one hour per day at the A.M.  For instance, if you're with us for five days, you should serve five hours.  This can be all at once or broken up into shifts.

Work Co-op is not the same as kitchen clean-up shifts.  We all do 2 of those as well.

It takes a village to make this event happen.  Please come with an open heart and hands that are ready both to receive and give.

Youth Village Shout Out

Speaking of the Work Co-Op, if you signed up to work with the Youth Village as you registered, Theresa Cunningham, has been trying to reach you!  It would be most helpful to her if you would get in touch and let her know what special skills, talents, workshops, crafts, song sessions, nature hikes, etc., you might have the capacity to bring/lead, etc., etc. so that she can complete her planning phase.  Please write to iamtvine@hotmail.com in the next week!

In an earlier version of the published daily schedule, it said that the parent meeting for the Youth Village was on Tuesday, August 10 was at 4:30.  We've moved that meeting to 3:00.  If you're a parent of a Youth Village participant, we hope you and your young artist can be with us by then.  It's ok if you're not - we'll catch you up!

And, just to make sure you're reading closely, please note our plea over in the 'what to bring' section about scraps of cloth and costume pieces.  Thanks!
