Flight Training Apps to Launch First App in May, 2011
Take Flight San Diego has created a new flight training education company called Flight Training Apps. My partner Ant Bilsev and I have been working hard to create and finish our first app titled "Garmin GNS430W/530W - Instrument Holds & Approaches". We expect to have it finished in May 2011 and it will be available from www.flighttrainingapps.com in streaming video format for your PC as well as the Apple app store for use on your iPad, iPhone, or Droid. Eventually, we will expand the video product line to include all private and commercial maneuvers, as well as quality checkride preparation for all certificates and ratings from private to flight instructor.

FAA Planning to Add 93,000 Additional Test Questions
The FA A is planning to add 93,000 test questions for all knowledge tests over the next several years. The first of these to be affected have been the instrument and CFI knowledge tests. The FAA have begun to introduce these new questions without including them in the public test bank database because of their belief that it will lead to less memorization and more understanding of the material. So far, passing grades for CFI Fundamentals of Instruction and Flight Instructor knowledge tests have fallen to the 50% range as a result of these new questions for which candidates were unprepared. If you plan to take a knowledge test in the future, be prepared to experience questions you have never seen before and make sure you know the material not just the answers.
