Pure Art in Peru : CAST In March 2011 a team of 17 Foundation volunteers paid their own expenses to visit the jungle town of Pucallpa Peru and build a home for a struggling family in the CAST (Construct A Structure Today) Program. The "Bracken" house was completed by the helping hands of volunteers from Hudson and surrounding area, and marks marked the 7th Pure Art home in this Amazon frontier town. We are grateful for the generosity of the Bracken family who made this possible. Good news, the "Garnier" home is also now completed. Thanks to the corporate donation from L'Oréal, another beautiful family enjoys protective shelter in the slums of Pucallpa. We can also report that the new Bishop University's house has been constructed and brings the total to nine. Thanks to Stephanie Shafiepour and all the Bishop's students who mobilized activities to donate enough funds to bring dignified housing to another destitute family in the area.
The next Pure Art home to be built family thanks to the inspiring efforts of Hudson resident Leslie Blake-Côté, who returned from this poverty stricken area of Pucallpa last March, determined to build a home for another destitute family. Through her tireless fundraising efforts, the Hudson community has raised and donated sufficient funds to build the latest house in the CAST program. This "Hudson House" will be underway next month!
Up and coming new homes include a house supported by the kind and generous work of Bombardier employees. They are well on their way to building the house that is currently calling "Wings".
Thank you to our local heroes! |

ONE SCHOOL FOR ALL
While visiting Pucallpa in March, team members met each of the children enrolled in the Pure Art "One School For All" program, that now sponsors 265 students to attend school this past year. A BIG "Thank You" to all those who have kindly supported this important program, you are truly making a difference in this community. Our goal is to continue the educative process for each and every child enrolled and expand this gift of education to more children in the coming year. New this year, we are delighted to announce that Pure Art is now sponsoring our first University student who proudly started higher education in Peru this year. By sponsoring Tulio, the Pure Art Foundation brought renewed hope into this young man's life, and that of his very proud family.
ART from the HEART Great News! The fourth edition of the very special Pure Art Christmas card collection is here!. Plan to pick up your holiday cards at the Pure Art Boutique either in Hudson or Westmount, and remember each and every dollar (100%) goes directly to the children's education!

H2O INITIATIVE Providing fresh, clean drinking water to the communities where the artisans and fellow villagers live, remains a top priority for Pure Art. The team reports that there are now five fresh water wells operating in the Pucallpa area, offering safe water for many more families in this community this year. We are now focusing on well number six! |
