"It has been a real boost to have a blog that parents and students can go to and see not only the finished product, but the planning and putting everything together that the kids do. My eCoach has helped me so much by providing a space to show the process AND to share resources."

Quote from the ISTE 2010 conference:

"Education is most reticent to change. It's not about age, it's about mindset. I do think it's possible to inspire change at the grassroots."

-- Karen Cator, Director of Education Technology, U.S. Department of Education, ISTE 2010 Keynote Panel.

Daily Writing Activities
Activities for student writing improvement

Writing Fix Logo
One of the best ways to encourage your students to write is to add writing as part of their daily routine. One way to do this is to have your students keep a daily journal. Another option is to follow a writing prompt, such as those on these sites:
  • Go to Writing Fix and have your students click the daily writing prompt, copy it, and then write to the prompt.
  • Go to Daily Writing Prompts and have students go to the calendar for each day. Have them use the prompt and write to that
    prompt.
  • Daily Grammar blog offers short lessons that you can have your students do on their own.

Tip: Interactive Whiteboard Basics

Interactive whiteboards are now used on the computer as way to extend learning with your students. There are a few basics that teachers and students need to know when they can use an interactive whiteboard on the computer. These tips were adapted from Smart Board Basics and include these five major points:
  • Calibrate your interactive whiteboard.
  • Use your whiteboard like your mouse or trackpad.
  • Use the pens on the whiteboard.
  • Erase your work on the whiteboard.
  • Save your work from the whiteboard.
If you use or plan to use an interactive whiteboard, click here to read more about each tip. This will make your time more efficient.
