EVENT DETAILS

The East Bay Chapter invites you to attend our last Summer Program at the home of the East Bay Chapter Chairwoman. Our summer series has been planned so guests can discuss international affairs before and after the program.

Our speaker, Sophia Bekele, will share her experience traveling in the North African region of Tunis, Tripoli and Cairo during the uprisings where the governments cut off internet access. As an international internet policy adviser, Sophia has served as an adviser to the global internet governance body ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). Ms. Bekele has performed roles in both the public and private sectors as well as actively working on internet and technology initiatives in Africa. Her frequent travels to Africa have made her knowledgeable about current political situations and how they effect business in the region.
